The Glazers Really Don’t Care…
… which, of course, is blindingly obvious. But more significant is their flagrant disregard for a certain word called reality.
By now this is old news, but to refresh those of you not aware, there are reports that say the Glazers are likely to further increase ticket prices.
This in itself is no big deal; they have increased prices every year since their takeover. The context of the reports suggest that they are waiting till the prices reach such a point when no one in their right mind would want to come even close.
However, for supporters there might be hope. Even before these reports came out, MUST’s Green and Gold campaign claimed to have got a lot of supporters willing to not renew their season tickets. It’s quite possible that there will be a lot of undecided supporters around.
And if there is a significant number of them then this sort of a report ought to push them over the edge. (I am part hoping for that to happen, but I don’t think it’s entirely unfathomable.)
But the question is, how much of a boycott is enough to create any sort of dent to the Glazer steamroller?
I would agree with Stretty Ender on this, with whom I had a brief conversation about it on twitter the other day: he reckoned about 10,000 people at least should not renew. That is a serious dent. It’s enough cushion to ensure the day-trippers that visit OT, don’t make this sell-out. We’re already seeing matches with empty seats at OT. However, those seats despite being empty have been paid for in the pre-season itself.
The upcoming season will tell us a lot more. Green and Gold is all well and good for now, and might have even amused that family in Florida. However, if this campaign translates into underwhelming sales next season — it will be time for the Glazers, Gill et al, to turn off the autopilot ramp that’s been controlling their ticket price rise lately. Oh, and perhaps force them to consider the Red Knight cash on the table.
We’re dealing with an intransigent set of owners who, with the benefit of distance from the epicentre of protests, have remained unmoved. Change can happen only when it hits their bottomline.
But the war has just begun. And like most wars, this needs a lot of patience from fans.

A lot of you had questions on why this site has been dead, save for the preview posts [thanks, David!]. For the past two months I’d hit a creative rut where I didn’t really enjoy writing anymore. I mean, I enjoyed watching United. But the process of analyzing performances, writing my typical long winded reports, opinion pieces on players, just began feeling like a chore. I’ve had my share of the writer’s block in the past. But this seemed like it was going to last longer. It just didn’t feel right.
Maybe I needed my head to be cleaned. Maybe I needed a break from the blogging/debate part of it and just enjoy the football, take it in for what it’s all worth. And just, well, be a fan without the analysing part. I think the last month was like that. I think I am finding my way back, and hopefully things will be back to normal. But in the meantime here’s what I plan to do. I will invite reader submissions. Yes, you heard it. I will invite submissions. I will of course be very selective, and there is a chance I might edit them out to fit in my — what those editor types call — editorial vision.
Here’s the thing though. I am looking for specific themed posts, and not just about on anything. Here are some type of posts I want:
1. Pieces that are personal in the sense of how you became a Manchester United fan. And while you think it’s easy one to write, trust me, it’s not. It needs to be really evocative, inspiring and descriptive in the sense that one gets the feeling of being in those shoes. This is actually one of the harder themes to write about — or at least, hard to get through my scissors.
2. If you are a season ticket holder or used to be, or well, have been to Old Trafford — a post on one of your best match days. If you’ve been there, and are a good story teller, this should be doable.
3. Humourous posts. And actually this is as hard as number one, but this is entirely subjective. The humour needs to be pretty funny or at least work for me, before it goes in here. If you are not sure, then send it to me. If I don’t think it’s that outrageous enough, feel free to post it in your blog or in the comments. Irreverence works. Even the ability to laugh at United, as long as it’s in good taste, also works.
4. Research stats based topics: This is the slogger’s post. Where the number crunchers in you could do one. Again, your stats need to be well reasoned — not half-baked. And yet, shouldn’t be bogged down with stats to bore the reader to death.
5. Miscellany — this is a loose category where stuff which may fall in the above categories might fit. Or I may decide this post just works for me. I don’t want news-based articles. Or match reports for that matter. These articles are routine pieces and can be churned out quite easily. So no short-cuts.
Anyway, here’s the kicker though. I am leaving on vacation for three weeks; will be travelling on Saturday and Sunday which means I will miss the Liverpool match. Keep sending your entries, and I will hope to post them over the next couple of weeks or so. Although there’s no guarantee as of now on that.
But I’m sure, if I get good posts I will post them. If I don’t, you are free to post them in your blog, or submit them elsewhere. Remember to not take rejections personally. None intended. If you come back later, swearing at me for rejecting your magnum opus, I apologise, in advance.
Send your entries to: redrants [at] gmail [dot] com. In the subject put “Contribution Piece for Red Rants”

Mate, I really understand you. As you know I was making FIFA videos, about anything connected with United. Recreating goals, showboating, legends, and I even made one about hope!
But I’ve stopped doing that now, I just didn’t find any motivation doing it any longer. I’m still playing FIFA and stuff, but I’ve neither got time or motivation to edit videos. I just don’t feel the same spark as before… First it was just a hobby, I saw some other people doing it and I just thought “Why not?”. It was fun in the beginning, but as it went on it was becoming more of a fucking job! So, I’ve stopped doing that now. I’d rather play with my mates or just on the Xbox when I’m bored. Feels better this way!
btw, I wrote a comment on this site a few months ago. I remember it quite well, where it describes my feelings of being a Manchester United. How much it meant to me, how football is more than a sport, what every supporter must feel for a club. Probably my best way of describing what being a United fan means. Even Grognard loved it, told me to send it to Fergie!
So, if it’s alright, how do I send that in?

I feel that the Glazer treat the Green and Gold campaign as a fool games. I don’t know why i feel like this. But i think they are feel amused with whatever is happening. I don’t feel respect by them so much so that i want them to leave. I hope the coming few months will be benefit for us. Patient is the key to victory.

The Guardian report is pure fabrication. The Glazers will have set the ticket prices for next season ages ago. They have a long-term business plan, like it or not. They aren’t spur of the moment types. They wouldn’t be starting to consider ticket prices now. It would have been done and dusted months ago. It’s just more propoganda in the phoney war between the Glazers and those who want to buy the Glazers out. The Guardian is very firmly in the red knights camp. The fans will be subject to this sort of misinformation from both sides until this episode is over. I’d advise treating everything with an XXL pinch of salt.

Good to have you back RR. I reckon some posters could write some great research/opinion pieces, just a matter of having the time available. Enjoy the holiday.

I think we got the better end of the draw for sure…we have the 2nd leg at home against Bayern and have the easiest possible semi in store if we get through – and we’ll be the home team for the final if we get there as well!!! Now if only we could get past Bayern….not too bad eh?

Semi Final against Lyon or Bordeaux is better than we could ask for if we get past Bayern. Barca Final looks to be on the cards, but part of me would prefer to meet them over 2 legs.
Semi Finals
Inter/CSKA Moscow v Arsenal/Barcelona
Bayern/Man United v Lyon/Bordeaux

I think that was a pretty good draw in the end for United… Tough part is beating Bayern but at least we got the second leg at home. Semifinal draw is great. Then we’re the “home” team in the final and get to wear red.
I don’t know about Bayern away, Chelsea in the league, then Bayern home though. Those could be some defining trio of games.

@tooth: What don’t think we will take with a pinch of salt is being the only premiership club whose season tickets went up last season, and we’ll probably be the only ones next season, despite our club bringing in more money from sponsorships and merchandise than everyone in the bottom half of the league combined.
So what if the Glazers decided to do this last year? They are ripping us off for their own gain, and it doesn’t matter if they decided to raise ticket prices last year or last week.

Also we’ve signed Joe Coll. That’s Joe Coll, not Joe Cole. 16 year old Irish goalkeeper. Joins in the summer.

If anyone can beat Barcelona it is Jose’s Inter. He produced a tactical masterclass against Chelsea and I think he can outsmart Pep as well.
As for our draw it is ok. We must have a very good chance against Bayern (no offence Grognard!) if we defend properly and keep Robben and Ribery quiet. At this stage of the game experience counts for a lot and our squad has it in abundance, whereas Bayern do not. If Ribery and Robben bomb forward it just means players like Nani and Valencia will get the same opportunity their end and will get the chance to give Rooney some A1 service. Hell Berbatov may even get the chance to prove his worth at this level-although I expect Fergie will play a cautious 4-5-1 at this stage of the game.

@colver: He did not beat barca in the group stage.
I think Arsenal will have great trouble against Barca.
If we beat Bayern — big IF — we should have enough in us to take out either French team.
I just think United – Barca in the final will be as tough as last year… except they do not have Eto’o. And THAT is a big difference! BELIEVE!

This champion league draw is really good for the fans, and I feel it slightly favors us. Bayern are no mugs, and at this stage none of the teams are but I couldn’t really imagine a more favorable draw for us. If we beat Ze Germans, we play one of the French teams. The way I see it Bayern,Lyon, and Bordeaux are all strong teams who are more than capable of beating us when we aren’t at our best. But if we play our “A” game and of course Mr Rooney keeps up his form, then I don’t see any of those teams stopping us.
I look forward to hear Grognards reaction/thoughts to the draw, seeing how he is a big Munich fan as well.
As for the Barca, Arsenal tie… I’m really intrigued by it. My first reaction is that Barca will easily beat them over 2 legs, but then something in my head is telling me to wait and see. If arsenal are clinical in front of goal, they could shock everyone.

Bayern aren’t the team they used to be. I think their defence will struggle to deal with the Valencia Rooney Berbatov Nani axis that has been developing, and Robben can get back to his usual place.. Evra’s back pocket.
Ribery is their obvious danger, and I’d expect Brown to start against him (over Red Nev of Rafael), with Valencia doing plenty of tracking back.
I wouldn’t bet against Hargreaves being on the bench for the OT leg.

My breakdown of the two teams is as follows;
Goalkeeping – Big edge to United. Butt has had a remarkable season but he is no EVDS and he is also prone to mental mistakes. He is known to be streaky however and when he is hot, nothing seems to get by him. EVDS is experienced and a cool cookie. But van Gaul has managed him. I hope he is not aware of some weakness in Eddy’s game that Bayern shooters can exploit. Like high shots to his left for example.
Defenders - Big edge to United. Barring injuries United get to start three world class defenders in Rio, Vidic and Evra while Bayern presently only have one in Philip Lahm. van Buyten is a very serious threat in the attacking zone on corners and set pieces but defensively he is slow and can be had despite his size. Badstuber is a potentially young superstar in the making much like Jonny Evans, biut he is young and experienced teams and players can cause him problems. The LB issue is a problem for Bayern due to injuries but they do have this 17 year old Austrian wunderkind who is also destined for stardom. His name is David Alaba and the kid is their Rafael. Still, United have too much class and experience in their back four provided either Rafael or Neville play well enough to contain Franck Ribery on the right side of defense.
Midfield - United has a slight advantage. I do not consider Bayern a 4-4-2 team. They are 4-3-3 and as far as manpower and quality of players, Bayern are strong with the physical and very capable van Bommel in the middle keeping things tidy. Schweinsteiger is class and has plenty of skill but he is also a little slow and may struggle against players like Nani or Valencia. The other starter would be another wunderkind in Thomas Muller. Great skill here and the finishing of a striker. This kid along with Toni Kroos and Ozil are the future of German football. Strong and very good on the ball but very young and inexperienced. Bayern has some good depth primarily in the attacking Hamit Altintop and the defensive pressure of the Ukrainian Tymoschuk.
Unite on the other hand counter with either three or four quality players. Fletcher is world class right now and Carrick is no slouch. I see Park utilized in defensive position in the midfield setup and right now he is in the form of his life and can be the shadow the team need to place on either Ribery or Robben. Giggs, Scholes and Gibson round the team out in that area. Strong but ancient legs can help but I would not put too much emphasis starting them because Bayern’s speed and class will wear both out, especially Scholes.
Attack - Advantage Bayern. Yes you read this right. Bayern have the advantage despite the great season Rooney has had. Bayern have too many great and highly experienced weapons. The most dangerous of these men are Ribery on the left side and Robben on the right. Both lightening fast, great dribblers, great passers, crossers, set piece artists, and players who live for the one on one challenge and cutting in and having a go at goal. Positively frightening when I think of Neville and Rafael on our right side being turned inside and out and even worrying about the Evra reverting back to his Skinned Sausage form of last year where a player like Robben could cause him great trouble. Bayern also have Ivica Olic who is very dangerous and who can come in as a sub or even start and cause havoc. In the middle we have the good but overrated Mario Gomez who is also in great form this season having found himself and his scoring touch again. But for me, the threat of Klose either starting or coming off the bench scares me because of his ability to finish and his strength in the air. A clutch player and a man that has also scored 10 goals in the World Cup. No mean feat.
United counter of course with the great Rooney and the improving Berbatov in the middle. Hard to say if Fergie goes 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 but if i was him I would go with 4-5-1 because we need to clog the midfield and cut off room that both Ribery and Robben can exploit. So I expect to see very little of Berba. Valencia and Nani will need to show their quality. I expect little from Nani because he will most likely be on the left side and that cause him to be neutralized by the great Philip Lahm who is great at tackling and covering wingers. Valencia is the key man here as he will probably face the kid Alaba or if Demichelis is healthy enough to return, I could see Bayern move Badstuber over there. Either way, Valencia’s role in this tie will be massive because he will have the one area of the pitch that should be entirely owned by United, the right side. Shoul either Nani or Valencia be injured or unavailable, this cause problems for United. I would generally say that we have more depth but with our injury problems I would now say that Bayern has the edge in depth. They can count on class players like Klose and Olic, Altintop and Tymoschuk to come off the bench for them. We have old goats in Giggs, Scholes and Neville to count on as well as too many kids who have yet shown they can compete vs Wolves yet alone the likes of Bayern Munich.
Managing - Edge to Sir Alex. Both managers are class and both have managed winning teams in the CL. Both are proven winners and great leaders and motivators. But Fergie is arguably the greatest club manager of all time and although I question him a lot out of habit, I’ve got to believe he has a cunning plan in place. But make no mistake, the Bundesliga may not be as competitive in European competition but never lump Bayern into that assumption. Bayern are a class team and a massive organization with great players and coaches. They will be a much tougher test than Milan was.
Prediction: United by a hair 4-3 on aggregate.

@colver: I generally agree with you except for the comment on experience. Actually Bayern may have way more starting experience than us. Butt, Lahm, van Buyten, DeMichelis (if available), van Bommel, Schweinsteiger, Ribery, Robben and either Gomez or Klose are incredibly experienced and as well, many have made it to late stages of the Wold Cup and EUROS. United also have experience but a lot of our greatest experience will probably be on the bench. I’m not sure Giggs, Scholes or Neville will start. If they do they offer experience but they also slow the team down. Bayern has tremendous speed and width in their game. Our experience is extensive too but unlike Bayern we do not have as many 30 year olds starting or even on the bench. Our advantage is in our keeper and our back four. The rest belongs to Bayern if depth of squad is taken into account.

@[OPTI]Madschester United: The French clubs would be tougher than you think because they choke the midfield defensively. As midfield is not one of our strengths, this could be a problem. But hell, it’s not forgone conclusion that we will beat Bayern. The German club is an awesome opponent, believe me.

@Grognard: Your best long post EVER. Very nice read and frighteningly (from you) optimistic
One thing that seems to be contradicting. It seems like you say that Bayern are both slow and fast. If we play the counter, their slow defense will have to pay just like AC Milan did. As long as we (somehow) shut down their wingers, I think this will starve Gomez and Klose (in the air at least) and lead to a 2-0 aggregate win for us…
How fast are Bayern and if counter attack is their weakness and our strength, what can Ribery/Robben do about this?

@Grognard: Bayern is one of the most inconsistent team in the world, right now. They scored only once in the group stage at home.More so,their main players who are world class and can take the game out of us any moment are too much injury prone and i still think only one will be fit to play in that time.Schweinsteiger whom in think plays like World’s best on his day is suspended for their home clash which will be a major loss for them.More so,they are not a team who will go without 3-4 goals scored against them (mainly against the likes of us) .Their defence is their major concern(i think they have the worst defence of all the teams left now)and the defenders mainly play as attackers. So hope we concede less than them( it is also sure that a team consisting of Ribery and Robben will definitely score in 180 minutes).
So i dont see us losing in 180 minutes. And yes if it goes to Penaly, then Bayern can beat Barca also .So then no chance. But i m sure the tie will be decided in the first game only

@[OPTI]Madschester United: Sorry if I confused you with the slow fast thing. Schweinsteiger, van Buyten and Gomez are slow but the rest of the team especially their wingers and fullbacks are lightning fast.
You are absolutely correct when you say we have to stop their wingers. Easier said than done because not only are both dynamic, fast and world class, but they also have the benefit of being helped by overlapping and highly skilled fullbacks of which none on the planet is better than Philip Lahm (no disrespect to Maicon or Evra). This is a massive undertaking for United because it’s tough enough to stop one, but to stop two, well that’s tough when you then consider that the forwards and central midfielder of Bayern also need attention due to their extensive skills. Fortunately we have a strong back four, a great keeper and Park and Fletcher as pests. Still I see Bayern being a handful and possibly beating us. However I think Fergie will figure things out and defeat them. First leg is in Munich and I personally like that. I like coming home knowing what has to be done rather than traveling with a small lead , tied or behind.

@owen: Mate they haven’t lost in the Bundesliga in 17 matches and their form in Europe has greatly improved since they bought Robben. Ribery is finally back from injury and so I would be a lot more scared than you seem to be. You forget that this is my other favorite team and so I watch all their games. To Fergie, United and all United supporters I’d say BE AFRAID, BE VERY AFRAID. Still I think United will prevail because we are no pushover and because I think we have all the players to neutralize the threat. That and we have the Electric Roonaroo.

As I am not going to participate in the competition for placing future posts on this blog (for reasons that only I and Red Ranter know), I do offer up a little diddy that I just wrote which would have been to long for the competition but contains some thoughts that i felt like sharing with all of you. Hopefully you can have the time and patience to read it and enjoy it. Surprisingly, it’s very positive.
Grognard’s A Declaration of Love For Man Utd.:
The date is now dark and infamous for the legions of fans that call themselves Red Devils for life. May 27, 2009, a day that will live in infamy. Perhaps not at the same scale as Roosevelt’s similar comment after the attack on Pearl Harbor, but still applicable to the debacle that was the Champions League final in Rome that night contested between Barcelona and our beloved Manchester United.
That was a night when we crashed to a humiliating and humbling 2-0 defeat that also marked the end of Critiano Ronaldo’s career with the Reds. We were all gutted by the loss and even more so with the knowledge that we would have to endure the inevitable departure of the world’s best player from our ranks. The sale of Ronaldo to hated rivals Real Madrid for a reported 80 million pounds was just more than what most of us could dare stomach.
Months past and we patiently awaited our leader the Gaffer Sir Alex Ferguson to report a major signing or two of players we all felt were a desperate necessity. Silva, Aguero, Villa, Gourcuff, Huntelaar, Adler, Neuer, Di Maria, Dzeko etc etc, all names bandied about as future Red Devils. After all, how could we possibly survive and become better after losing the godly Ronaldo unless we replaced him with a few world class players?
Time passed, the season started and the transfer deadline came and went and all we had to look at as post season business was Antonio Valencia, Gabriel Obertan and Michael Owen. Hardly the kind of signings one can feel pleased and relieved over after knowing what we had just lost and knowing the money we assumed was in the bank waiting to be spent on better more impact oriented players.
Well we are almost near the end of the 2009/10 campaign and a lot has happened since then. The reality of our club’s financial situation has hit us in the face like a large polo mallet. The realization that this club is being destroyed and undermined from within by the owners, the evil Glazer family, has been a hard pill to swallow. We have seen our team display indifferent and sometimes alarmingly dull football, lacking in areas where new players are need yet, still managing to overachieve despite it’s internal problems and lack of transfer capital.
Kudos must go out to Ferguson for the job he has done. Despite his weaknesses and arrogance, the Gaffer may very well be doing this season, his greatest managerial job over his entire illustrious career. Make no mistake about it, Fergie has done wonders with a team low on world class talent and high on old legs, immature youth and injuries. He has had to manage, balance, motivate and align a squad that has lost the best player on the planet, not had the infusion that a talent like Owen Hargreaves would have offered, has had to deal with some major stars nearing the end of their long careers, has had to cope with indifferent and poor form from players he was counting on like Berbatov, Anderson, Owen, Carrick, Foster and until recently, the rejuvenated Nani.
Fergie has had to juggle a lot of pieces and has had to make out with what he has which is far from what he had to work with last year or the Double winning 2007/08 season. No Ronaldo, no Tevez, no Hargreaves and an epidemic of serious injuries would have certainly made any other manager other than the Special One Mourinho shudder in fear. But no, not our Fergie. With Sir Alex captaining the good ship United, we have continued to sail and are currently only two points behind league leaders Chelsea who themselves are showing signs of cracking from the pressure, of old age and little quality depth in reserve.
This season has had bumps and rough patches but somehow, some way, Ferguson has managed to maneuver this leaky boat into port and out to sea on numerous occasions without it having sunk due to the weight of it’s massive debt or the lack of quality of it’s tattered and knackered crew. The lads have endured, overcome and outperformed most of those who got in our way and in many cases with style and panache.
Through all this two figures have stood high and above all others. The great Wayne Rooney finally living up to his vast potential and having found the combination that unlocked the many goals that were in his repertoire of skills. And most surprisingly, the emergence and quality play of one Darren Fletcher who for me is the best box to box midfielder in the world right now. There are better attacking midfielders and there are better defensive midfielders, but there are none to my knowledge that can combine both jobs as well as Fletch. Oh perhaps a Ballack, an Essien, a Pirlo or a Vieira might have been better at one time but age or injury have made them all yesterday’s news. Fletcher is our new Roy Keane and we love him for it.
And now we have other players who are at last showing signs of also emerging and taking that big step to stardom. Nani looks to have finally figured it out. Always had the talent but never had the confidence or the maturity to deal with his role. Well now he looks to have finally exorcised the memory of Ronaldo from his soul and is ready to soar to greatness.
Antonio Valencia is another who got off to a decent but unspectacular start with the club but who recently is making others and myself take back our words and wishes for a new right-winger signed. Yet again realization that perhaps the Gaffer was right. Lets also not forget the player I least like on this side other than the useless git Anderson, that being JS Park. Could he finally be turning into something very good and very valuable or is his recent form just another tease designed to build up our hopes? What I would give for him to become something other than a marketing tool for United’s Asian market?
I should also mention that there are signs of life from everyone’s favorite sloth Dimitar Berbatov as well as resurgence of out of form greats like Vidic, Rio and even Scholes and Neville have shown signs that they may have found the Fountain of Youth.
Things are looking up on the field for our beloved Manchester United. So what does the future hold? I suppose that fully depends on the future of Sir Alex as well as the future plans of the criminal and universally despised Glazer Family. We all are placing our hopes and dreams on the Red Knight takeover movement and hope that a high enough bid to purchase the club can finally rid us of these greedy and corrupt bastards.
The debt needs to be taken care of and the club needs new leadership in the front office. Out with the Glazers and Judas’s like David Gill. For me Fergie will always have a lot to answer for with his continued support of these criminal extortionists but his massive contribution as manager of this club allows me to forgive him and give him a free pass in all this. Provided he starts using some of the money he claims he has at his disposal for players so that this club gets younger and better.
United not only need to be saved from the financial calamity they have been placed in. They need to exorcise the presence and influence that the Glazer’s corporate policies have had in sullying and destroying the once great and friendly reputation and image of this great club. Let this club be one with its fans and know that employees will not be sacked because they wear a green and yellow scarf or because they converse with fans on blogs or on Twitter etc. This oppressive and Orwellian regime has got to be terminated and we must bring this team into a new positive and interactive ownership that acknowledges and allows the fans to be part of the running and success of the club and where greed and the almighty dollar is not the most important asset.
The future is muddy right now but for the first time in years, there is light at the end of the tunnel. We can see color and brightness and we are beginning to make our way out of the financial and corporate darkness that the Glazer’s have placed us in. I fully support the Red Knights and MUST and wish them well in this takeover bid. And finally I end this love letter to United by addressing the Glazer’s, I say the following to Malcolm and his menagerie;
“Love United Hate Glazer” For Christ sake get the hint and piss off. Enough is enough. Realize when you have outlived your welcome and get in touch with the reality that no matter how much you want to keep the club in order to continue extorting dividends from it, the fact is we, the millions of loyal fans of United will not allow it to continue indefinitely. Your time is coming to an end and your Berlin style wall will eventually and inevitably be crushed and demolished. Never for a minute think that your materialistic and monetary greed outweighs the greed of millions of fans who demand a strong and winning club as well as a healthy one. Yo0u are outnumbered and you will be defeated. Your form of corporate fascism is a dinosaur nearing extinction. Look around, the world is finally cluing in to the corrupt machinations of American corporate greed. Your pyramid is no longer as stable as you would like.
Feel safe and secure back in your Floridian mausoleum and fortress but know this, you are not welcome as owners of this club, and you are not welcome as visitors to Old Trafford, despite the fact you feel you own it. Fact is you don’t, regardless of what the lease may indicate. In fact you never used a dime of your money to buy this club. We the fans bought it for you. Well the buck stops here. Shove off and lets not see the sight of you ugly bald bastards again. Allow this great club to once again not only maintain greatness on the pitch but to once again be the pinnacle pride and glory for its city, it’s country and the footballing world. You have cheapened it long enough. It’s time you faced reality and for your own good relieve yourself of this greedy endeavor once and for all. Go back to America and destroy and exploit over there. I think we will deal with Bayern quite easily. None of their defence impress me, even lahm. He looked terrible against Fiorentina. They way Jovetic pounced on them was embarrasing to say the least. Apart from Robben and Ribery(players who could get injured at any time) they have little attacking threat. Both players can be neutralised. I think both Park and valencia can handle them as well as do damage

@EduardoDaVinci4: What the Hell are you talking about and who or what the Hell is Lil Wayne? Is he a combination of Rooney and Lil Man Nani? And trust me, no rapper in existence ever had the intellectual capacity to come up with an original quote other than “YO Yo Bitches YO Yo, Wass Up” Most talentless morons on the face of the planet and you think I’d steal or borrow from them? Honestly mate, I’m shocked.

@owen: And let me guess you make that generalization based on the play you have seen in the Euro final where an injured Lahm got burned by Torres, right? Honestly, when I hear crap like this, it just steams me. Lahm is a fantastic defensive fullback and one of if not the best tackling fullbacks in the game. As for Bayern’s overall defense, yes they do have some issues, but they are far from a joke. United will beat them but if they don’t I will rain down abuse on you for these ill advised statements like you have never seen.
You will feel Grognard’s wrath. Remember, I love Bayern too. So I am just as protective of them as I am of United. But I also know who is good and who sucks on that team.

@Taehr: It truly amazes me how generalizations are made about a team or individual players based on one game. And if a German bloke is saying the same thing about our team after seeing our last performance against Wolves or even better, Everton, he would assume the whole lot of us were total shite.

@Grognard: Lil Wayne is actually a very smart bloke. Your thoughts on rappers is very wrong, they may be some crazy motherfuckers but they certanly aint dumb. At least not all of them, certanly not Lil Wayne who has a degree psychiologi. He may be smoking pot all day long and screaming “Hey motherfucker, hey hey, how you doin? This is Weezy F baby, gonna show you shitty urin”. But he really is smart.
And that quote was from Lil Waynes “Best Rapper Alive”. Swagger right, check, game type, and You should be afraid, be very afraid!
I know it must be shit for you to see United meet Bayern, but at least we are in for quite a contest. I for one, am delighted!

Exactly. Just a glorified back alley poet with a grudge and an attitude. Now if he could actually write a line of music to go with that bull crap he spouts we might actually mistake him for a disturbed talent. But for me he is just a punk like all of those gangsters. Grognard out Yo!

Now I may not approve of Fergie’s attitude towards the media, but as far as the FA is concerned. Let them have it Fergie.
