The Red Hot Roundup: Scholes, Eggy, FIFA, Evra
Today’s roundup was a little late thanks to some overwhelming response for our last post. But well, you can always trust the Scousers to be passionate about their stuff. Okay, enough compliments to them for the day. It was a struggle to be civil, mind you, but they didn’t do much flaming either. So we’re even I guess.
Speaking of flaming, I think I need to formulate some sort of a comment policy. (I have been lenient in general, allowing most posts to go through.) But I guess there will be cases where I will have to draw a line, and I will spell them out in a separate post.
Enough of that for now, on with the round up.
1. Paul Scholes is injured and has gone back to Manchester. Nothing can be said about the extent and nature about the injury. We’ll wait and see.
2. There is a good article on Times about Patrice Evra. And after reading that it made me like the lad even more. It is pretty inspiring stuff, I assure you: rags to riches, one might say. Some fans have pointed out that Heinze needs to take a leaf out of Evra’s book when it comes to demands for a first team place. But Heinze hasn’t really said anything official on whether he has a problem with being in United or not. We discussed that in the previous post.
3. Eggert Magnusson has apparently admitted that he sees Tevez leaving West Ham. That has come up on some Swedish newspaper, and is now all over the British media. We’ll have to wait and see how his departure from West Ham pans out.
4. And to make things a little more confusing, FIFA say they are not sure if they will be able to rule on the Tevez case. Of course, they wouldn’t know at the moment. The reason for the meeting today is to figure out if they will be able to rule on the case.
And as I write this United are 6-0 up against a rather poor Shenzhen FC. Six goals from six different players, Nani makes his debut. More on this later.
Till then…

Dissapointed with Smith. Had 2 golden opportunities, not only did he not score, he looked massively disinterested. Only running to stalk some poor defender from behind, general distribution poor, walking around. I can only figure he’s on his way out…
Only sour note of the game though. Great performances from Giggs, Evans, Eagles, Fletcher and of course a fantastic little chip from Rooney. Though, wiht the other team looking this weak, I don’t really know if we learn anything.
Nani’s goal was quite well taken, he didn’t look bad at all for a first game. Ronaldo and him switching should be fun times for defenders next year!
July 23rd, 2007 at 15:21
I have a feeling next seasons top scorer for United will be Ronaldo
July 23rd, 2007 at 15:54
Scholes’ injury is in his knee, he will miss the next 4 weeks.

C’mon now redranter. don’t shut people out (unless they are haters.) I think you should let people do their thing you know. The overwhelming response is purely an indication of the much love we have with the greatest team in the world. If its for the better then go ahead. Hmm Scholes getting injured , not a good sign but we will cope with it. I hope those italians won’t add any more casualties when we play them. Matterazzi gives me the creeps! What I would propose FIFA to do is, no matter how complex this situation is , Let tevez play for us.According to what I have read in the papers, it all boils down to the player’s registration and how the money is going to be paid which I suggest could be sorted out later.

it looks as though the meeting between FIFA and the FA told us what we already know about the Tevez saga, absolutely nothing. What a waste of everybodys time.

July 24th, 2007 at 0:54
I’m sure he doesn’t mind people speaking slang if people can actually understand what you’re saying without feeling like they have just read the new Potter book (sorry for mentioning it but I just finished it and I can’t get it out of my head)
July 24th, 2007 at 0:56
Anyway Scholes will be a huge loss at the start of the season lucky we have Hargreaves to step in (if he ever gets fit) and I see that Tevez is still in the news zzzzzzzzzzzz.
July 24th, 2007 at 1:09
And can someone tell me why John O’Shea is a defender the man is a scoring machine.
P.S. why is Eagles wearing no.19 isn’t that Rossi’s number?
July 24th, 2007 at 1:11
Quite the sublime touch from Giggs to assist Nani. I really enjoyed seeing the teamwork in the clips.
Beach- Are you the same from the PES,(just curious, if so I have often enjoyed your comments over there)
Thanks for the vids Ranter, it’s been quite a dry spell. I subscribe to MUTV but they aren’t showing these games. It’s nice to see what everyone is talking about
July 24th, 2007 at 1:17
damn eagles goal was a nice blast hope we dont loose him if we loan him. nanis goal was nice maby we will se them agains better defense before the 1st game

@Shera Singh
Speaking in slang is COOL!!!
Typing in shorthand is UNCOOL!!!
Offending people when they ask you nicely just to change the way you type (not the way you bring yourself accross, nor who you are, is just plain DISRESPECTFUL.
I like your comments…the way your mind works. Its just because of the difficulty in reading your shorthand texts, your point get lost sometimes. I don’t think the guys meant for you to change your slang or to change who you are….just respect the rest of the guys by typing it in a way that is ‘more commonly accepted by the majority on this site’.
In short… I like what you have to say, dont agree with how you say it.

Now that Scholes is missing the start of the season, does that leave a space for Anderson in the starting lineup???=D
July 24th, 2007 at 9:02
Shera where will i get mutv in india ???
July 24th, 2007 at 12:17
Its such a shame Rossi is not on this tour, atleast to prove to fergie that he is wrong to consider selling him. Given what we have seen from Dong and Smith, Rossi should not be the one leaving and should be given his chance. A striker line up of Saha, Rooney, Tevez, Rossi and ole, is perfect for our amazing midfield players and, good contrast of age and experiece.
July 24th, 2007 at 14:10
The Fifa have recommended that the Tevez be referred to the
Court of Arbitration for Sport. A cop out!?
July 24th, 2007 at 14:48
The Tevez thing!
In the end its just a matter of who gets the money Wet Ham or MSI.
Surely whatever fee we pay West Ham they’re gona have to pass on to MSI anyway?! I mean at the end of the day something dodgy happened and the quicker West Ham let Tevez go the quicker they can forget the whole thing and move on. I’m really surprised they’ve let the whole thing get so big it really just opens them up to more scrutiny.

July 25th, 2007 at 13:38
i think alan smith is pitiful, after all, with united pursuing tevez, it makes him feel so unwanted. maybe that is the reason why he didnt perform well in the preseasons. although i expect him to work harder, get rid all the critics and show that he can score regularly
July 25th, 2007 at 15:58
alan smith is bein aloud to talk to middlesbrough!! gd news i think, on top of dt sir alex feels gabi heinze shud swear loyalt to united because we stood bi him during his recovery process and reitarated his stance tht heinze will nt be joinin liverpool evn mor gd news. Sir alex has also confirmed tht rossi and pique wil nt be leaving the club brill gd all round
