This is a dream if Roy is enable to coach the team alone let him look for another person who can help him but not scholes because he player's a very important role of giving experience to players like Nani.Selling him will be a great lose to man u.Let Sir Alex not allow that to happen.

Call it journalism at its best, its only in England where tabloids make money by writing crap. Scholes has been the most underated player of his generation. During the 99 reign, becks, keane n giggs got all the accolades, but woe unto his critics, this guy is best England midfielder of his generation.

Scholes to Sunderland? This is trash! Paul Scholes has played football at Man U for all his career and will leave Old Trafford on retirement and not to play for another club. SAF is not finished with Scholesy yet and he will not be in the near future. Scholes will play until may be the summer of 2010, when he can retire honorably. You will not find a player whose passes are as incisive as Scholes'. The guy is also brilliant, remember his scoop pass to Rooney for United's second goal! How do you shovel a ball up over the defence of AC Milan's calibre as if you are in a training ground and then cost 2 million pounds? Come on the one who wrote this, come on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have to say that the ginger ninja is my favourite united player. At times it can be said he suffers from total braind fades i.e Roma. But i really think that he's just one of the finest players to roam the old trafford pitch. You can never say he's guilty of not trying his heart out...unlike others thank you Saha. I think he is probably one of the most naturaly talented players i have seen. 2 million...I had to laugh when i saw that headline because otherwise i would have to think about the stupidity that some people obiously suffer from! Paul Scholes to me is priceless to Man Utd. He is as much part of the history of our team as is the word Munich (for both good and bad reasons).

I hope Anderson, who i believe will be groomed for our attacking midfield role, is able to watch Scholes in operation with his amazing vision and ability to hit both the most delicate of penetrating flicks and probing long balls, and the unique ability to read the game and postion effectively. If Anderson can even begin to learn these skills from one of the best in the buisness then with his already formidable talents he will no doubt be what we are all hoping for him to be... an even more complete Ronaldinho. So to those who are making these rumours shh... and enjoy the english version of Zidane ( nice call BootifullGame) in his final years of a memorbale career safely in the colours of the greatest club in the world.

I heard of this rumour first from one of the Sunderland forums. I thought it was a joke (2m for Scholes. HA!) but it persisted longer than a joke should have. As a Man Utd fan, it irritated me, especially when some of the sillier fans actually started discussing the issue in depth. He's just had one of his best seasons with us in a few years and now we want to sell him on the cheap? Please. ^^

I also doubt the authenticity of this piece of "news".
He was certainly one of our better players last year, and despite the fact that he's not quick or particularly strong he still brings too much to the team, as you say, to be sidelined. I would hold back on saying the same thing about Giggs though. Giggs looked average at best in the latter part of the season, perhaps with less games this coming season will see him retain his form a little longer.
Scholes is good for another two seasons i reckon, playing less games perhaps as time goes by.
I think the little Ginger One can be comfortably decribed as the english Zidane. He had the same attributes, including a dodgy temperament. Long may he play.
