Three Legends in United’s New Away Strip – Wallpaper
How many years ago was it when United committed to only changing their kits every two years?
Maybe that did only include the home shirt but even that gets changed every year now, tradition and continuity has gone out of the window to satisfy the insatiable modern day consumer of football and all its paraphernalia. Once upon a few years ago there would be uproar from parents at the constant renewing of a T-Shirt that costs a whopping £45.00.
To be fair to the designers though, on this occassion (unlike the occassion when they made a total mess of the new home shirt) they’ve come up trumps in my opinion. This new away shirt ticks all the boxes for me, what do you think?
Thanks as usual to @MuadhKalbani for the image design. Download the full size version on our Facebook page, makes for a great wallpaper.

if we dont get rvp it will be a disgrace
the lad himself already indicated he isnt interest in city, and with city already having tevez, aguero and silva I doubt they will be overly interested in rvp either.
18-22million is defintly worth the price
I dont care if he is in his last year of contract because if we dont offer the money someone else will

More vomit enducing crap from fergie once again.
Bit that stands out there however is: “Then, when the Glazers took over, there was disaffection, so there have always been wee pockets of supporters who have their views… and there’s nothing wrong with that. But I think the majority of the REAL FANS will look at it realistically and say it’s not affecting the team. We’ve won four championships since they’ve been there, one European Cup”.
There you have it fellas, apparently were not real fans in the eyes of fergie.
Honestly i just shake my head in dispair at that quote. What an uncalled for and totally bitchy snide comment in response to people he should have more compassion for.
Well and truly ruining his glorious legacy as each week goes by. What an arrogant, hyprocritical, holier than thou, big headed, ego inflated asshole you have become fergie (and no im not going to bloody well apologise for that even if it does make me look like an ungrateful little so and so, enough is e-bloody-nough. The man is well and truly bigger than the club, the fans, everyone or so he seems to think).

Yeah what Ferguson fails to mention is that with all the money flowing into English football over the last decade without the burden of the Glazer debt we would have had double the transfer funds each year and “value” would not be part of his vocabulary.

Just disgusting to read more of this bile from Fergie. His legacy gets tarnished more and more with every comment he comes out and makes like this.

Tony has posted the link before me but there you have it lads, Fergie goes on his annual love speech for the Glazers. The corporate vermin who have raped and pillaged the club, who have pushed the hardcore fanbase out of Old Trafford. Nothing to be surprised about really, we are accustomed to such ignorance these days.
But then to have the audacity to belittle the fans who really care about the club, goodness me, you have outdone yourself this time you washed up piece of shit. Shut the fuck up you old coward, have you no shame?

@Moscow: Heres the full interview:
I’m absolutely comfortable with the Glazers situation. They’ve been great. So if you’re asking me for my views, I don’t have any complaints.
I’ve never encountered opposition. They’ve always been as sensible as they can be in terms of financing the team, and they have to invest in the team to maintain the value of their asset.
I think there are a whole lot of factions at United that think they own the club. They will always be contentious about whoever owns the club, and that’s the way it has always been.
When I came to the club, Martin Edwards was always getting pelted because he was going to sell to [Robert] Maxwell, then to [Rupert] Murdoch, Michael Knighton, and when they became a plc there was disaffection.
Then, when the Glazers took over, there was disaffection, so there have always been wee pockets of supporters who have their views… and there’s nothing wrong with that.
But I think the majority of the real fans will look at it realistically and say it’s not affecting the team. We’ve won four championships since they’ve been there, one European Cup.
I think the problem is they [the Glazers] are not publicists. They don’t go out of their way to seek good publicity. They are quite happy to stay in the background. Roman Abramovich is the same.
Look at what they are spending on the training ground.
It’s going to be fantastic. At the moment it’s a bit of a bombsite, but it’s supposed to be completed by October and we just hope it’s ready on time. They’ll be spending about £30m and its all down to them.
We buy in the right way and that’s the difference between United and the rest — we can play 18-year-olds because it’s part of our history. It’s like a destiny for us that when a young player emerges we play him, and that has never failed us.
No other clubs can do that. City won’t do it. They definitely won’t play any young players who have come up through the system.
Their buys are all 25, 26, 27-year-old established players with a good maturity, experience and good ages. They won’t go away because the age group tells you that.
They don’t have any over-30s in their team. They don’t play any young players and the fans don’t expect any youth players to come through the way we expect them to at United.
There is a borderline in terms of what you would think is a good signing for United. I see some values on players, like Hazard for instance. To me it was a lot of money. He’s a good player, but £34m?
What we’re finding anyway, the climate for buying these top players —not just the transfer fees, [but] the salaries, agent’s fees — is just getting ridiculous now.
In the Hazard deal, Chelsea paid the agent £6m. The Nasri situation was the same.
It’s all about what you think is value for a player. I am not envious of those deals at all. We placed a value on Hazard which was well below what they were talking about.
So if it doesn’t work, well we’re not worried about that. We think we’ve got good value in Kagawa.
There you have it. Everything thing there from praise for refurbishing our training ground (with united money actually fergie, not glazers) to his thoughts on players being over valued (despite him actually being half responsible for that through selling ronaldo for £80m, aswell as blowing nearly £40m on the likes of bebe, obertan, tosic, anderson).
My response to that whole pile of drivel isnt a 2000 word pile of shite like fergies. No no, mine is about a sentence long.
Quite simple, and i quote:
“Our indebtedness could adversely affect our financial health and competitive position”.
Keep spouting your none stop shite fergie, i for one would love to see you try and squirm your way out of answering that one.

@colver: Frankly Sir Alex should concentrate on Pre season build up. Comments he has been making lately make him sound like a bitter man. So what if man city have diluted the market, so what if they don’t have youngsters coming through their ranks. Mancini and co. won’t give a shit coz and neither will other money. bag teams. we are lumped with owners whose debt is impacting our spending power and allure so we have no one else to blame for our current ‘unattractive’ position
Let’s concentrate on preseason and hammering out concrete deals rather than being in the press with pointless rants.

@Nelson: Funny thing is, were in no position to be talking about city spending obscene amounts of money on players, because were spending obscene amounts of money season in season out ourselves.
Problem is, were not spending £300m+ on players. No no. Were spending £300m+ on paying off debt.
Oh what wonderful owners we have eh fergie

@Nelson: Depends on how much we raise from the IPO i imagine.
Apparently we were looking at raising £500m at first, its now apparently £300m, and experts are saying even thats ambitious.
Considering our debts at this time are £470 something million, we’ll still be left with debts regardless.
Id imagine the interest on the leftover £100m+ debt is going to be relatively low however, so it will mean less money on interest repayements, but at the end of the day even 1 penny exiting the club to go on debt is a penny wasted.
Im not a financial genius but from what ive read, ive heard from a united point of view, it’d be better if the IPO fell flat on its arse, and had very little interest.
That way it might just pigeon hole the glazers into a corner and hopefully, result in a full sale of the club because, according to them, this IPO listing is obviously the first stages of a plan to sell of the full amount of the club in the future years.
This IPO thing failing, might just bring that forward.
Dont know how likely that is though. Might be bollocks.

If IPO is success: United will be debt-less, under Glazers but financially unconstrained — kinda like when we were a PLC pre-Glazer.
If IPO fails: United will be financially strained, Glazers will play balance game between improving club and selling club — bad for United. It could (on one end) mean the end of Old Trafford and hello “Nike-Pepsico Stadium” and no more transfer spending coupled with a slide down football hierarchy. Or it could mean a quick sale to another resource billionaire (Aussie, Eastern european, Arab, American)…. is our evil Owner worse/better than other potentially evil owners… it’s same risk in my eyes.
If I have to pick from these two scenenarios, I will do like Salomon and let the Glazers keep my United baby, as long as it is doing well financially, rather than watch United be shredded to pieces like Rangers, Portsmouth, Leeds, Wimbledon, etc… That is, I hope the IPO is a roaring success and United can pay off their debt — I won’t pay a dime for Glazer’s shares, but if other will, I am not gonna stop them (same for season tickets).
Also, a successful IPO could lead to long-term fan ownership of United (as Glazers might sell more important owner-shares on market if demand is high enough).

@Opti: Right now they are the better devils but perhaps we will see if this is all a facade when Sir Alex retires. Sir Alex being an institution at united, he is virtually unsackable. Even Abramovich, the trigger happy owner would have had a tough time sacking him if results were poor.
The next manager will determine / show us exactly how hands off they intend to be. Are they hands off because of Sir ALEX? will they introduce those moneyball schemes that American franchises like after Sir Alex retires ? we shall see. time will tell

Don’t mean to antagonize, but to be honest I don’t see any reason why Ferguson would feel he has to defend the Glazers. He’s an outspoken individual with immense pride who would at the very least hint strongly at being hindered. Ferguson has been very consistent over the years with his transfer policy. He’s hardly ever bought “big”. Let’s be realistic. Football has gone to the dogs ito financial issues. It’s very unlikely old guns like Ferguson or Wenger will adapt radically or wilt from the pressure of players. That’s the difference. The peculiarity of United and Arsenal is that they are largely controlled by the managers. Spurs have a technical director, same as Chelsea. It’s a continental system. I may be wrong but I think City have a director of football kinda in the mould of Real Madrid.
Ferguson, like Wenger, basically runs the club. If a player comes, it’s because Ferguson wants him. He’s heavily involved in the negotiations, talks personally with the player. If he doesn’t like him, based on his interactions, he won’t sign him. At other clubs it’s different. If you at Chelsea, as a manager, you have no significant say. If they want Shevchenko or Hazard, it’s not at the manager’s request. People think Pep didn’t want Deco and Ronaldinho, but the decision was made before he took over. So the truth is Ferguson is in a peculiar position. Think of Ronaldinho. If a player does not show any real determination or above average interest, he won’t touch him. If the player looks/seems interested eg DB9,he will get him no matter the price. Initially Sneijder showed significant interest and we did bid but Inter were totally uninterested and said they were not negotiating any price.
Hazard simply put himself on the auction floor and was clearly intent on the highest bid. I’m surprised when people say we missed out on Hazard. I think we dodged a bullet. We got Kagawa for half the amount. It’s called incredibly good business. Prestige aside, Barca can’t compete with us financially but we’ve lost two players to them in the past 3 years. David Villa didn’t even bother talking to us,Sanchez was also focused on Barca. He didn’t even bother with City. They had more money. We offered more money for Villa. So it’s not always the highest bidder that wins. City offered more money for Berbatov.
So it’s also important to take a case by case look at things. If you look at Ferguson’s interview, you can see with the in depth knowledge he has on the Hazard deal, he is personally against the status quo. He totally dislikes agents, he hates greed and will not want to be “defeated” by a player before he even enters the dressing room. It’s very clear both Ferguson and Wenger are definitely against the current state of transfer business and player power and will not budge. If you think we need to spend big frequently, then take it up with Ferguson because he clearly disagrees. From a reverse angle, if the Glazers were really money hungry, we’d have some consistent theme in transfers. Buy cheap, sell high. Kinda what clubs like Spurs, Ajax,Arsenal, Santos,Porto do. Yet we always sell low and with useless timing. Had we sold Berbatov last summer after top scoring, when it was clear, Ferguson had no interest in him,we’d have easily got £20m. Now we’re valuing him at £5m, £2m more than Park. Illogical. Pogba,Morrison,Fryers, were a waste of time and money. Only meaningful sales were Pique and Rossi. If we’re getting £1m compensation for Pogba who is out of contract, how much could we get if we had actually sold him? Same as Morrison. Look at how much we got for Park, Brown, O’Shea. Look at how much we bought a 19 year old Jones,Ashley Young with one year left on his contract,Bebe,Hernandez,Smalling. Total unknowns. Players like Petrucci are a waste of time and money because they’ll not play and will be let go as their contracts run down.
All this clearly shows the Glazers are very far from transfer issues and have decided to make their money in commercial areas like merchandise and commercial partnerships. The fact that Berbatov is complaining that he goes to Ferguson who informs him what his price is, which is not consistent with earlier agreements, clearly shows who is in charge of transfers.
Finally, I’m not saying we can flex as much financial muscle as City. I’m saying it’s not as big a deal as we think. Who can? Only 3 other clubs. Chelsea, PSG and Real Madrid. But then every player in football wants to play for Madrid even if they couldn’t outbid anyone so it’s really Chelsea,City and Psg. In the 90s,we were below the following teams in spending power Juventus,Lazio,Milan, Barca, Madrid and at times Roma and Parma. So technically we’ve improved now because from that group only Madrid can outbid us today in a duel. So in my opinion, there’s no basis for attacking Glazers on the subject of transfers or leeching the club. Transfers are Ferguson’s responsibility
