Today’s Roundup: Good News from the Boss

All quotes today will be from the boss.

If this can be some sweetener over the seemingly grim reality of Heinze wanting to leave then here it is. SAF has clearly stated that Gabriel Heinze will not move to Liverpool.

“I can assure you, Liverpool will not be getting Gabriel Heinze,” Ferguson said.
“We can put that to bed right now and we have done so. We have had a couple offers for him and we have turned them down.”

Gabriel Heinze

So there are clubs after him as suspected, but wait, there may yet be more good news.

Fergie has also attributed the rumours, of Heinze wanting to leave, to his agent. Apparently he’s been trying to engineer the move for a while:

“Heinze’s agents are rolling the ball all the time,” said Ferguson. “But no matter what his agent thinks, we are in the driving seat. “I don’t exactly know what Gaby thinks because it is all coming from his agent but this has been going on for a year and a half now.”

Of course, we are in the driving seat because there was a deadline by which Heinze ought to have stated his desire to quit. But since that has passed, I guess we at least have the power to say no to the Liverpudlians. Or any of our rivals for that matter. Sir Alex also rules out retirement, for the near future at least. Which is good in a way, although if you’d ask me the best way he could possibly retire now would be with a CL trophy. Not that it would matter to me if he takes a bow even after a trophy-less season. He’s done so much. He could quit any time he wishes, and no one would dare criticise him one bit.

And finally, one piece of some slightly disturbing news. Owen Hargreaves might not play in any of the games in the Asian tour. Which is a bit sad. I hope I am not being too paranoid, but I am not very sure of his fitness. In 2003, he suffered three major injuries that kept him out of most of his campaign for Bayern. And he’s already had a bad season, fitness-wise, last year. I guess there will still be niggles, but I just hope those injuries were plain bad luck and he is not made out of glass.

That’s some position you wouldn’t want your defensive midfielder to be in.

And finally, to wrap-up things, Michael Carrick says that he expects great things to happen, in the near future, for United.

    gr8 gr8 news

i am happy Today i hope when heinze reports back he better sit there and in united and enjoy his last years at man utd
And i’d suggest ditch tevez and get eto sell smith and wrap the transfer window for the year

  2. De_Roiste says:

I think you’ll find that a few people will disagree with you about
    ditching Tevez!!

  3. De_Roiste says:

Or is Tevez a taboo subject until the 9th now Red Ranter??!

  4. karl says:

Why should United ditch Tevez now? They’re getting “press coverage” from all over the world, and at least this time they are not being portrayed as “the bad guys”.
Secondly, this emphasises their approach of “if we want you, we will climb the highest mountain and swim the deepest ocean to get you”. Kinda romantic I know :-) They did the same with Ruud and Hargreaves.

I’m glad that Heinze is NOT going to Liverpool.
however, the fact that his agents have been requesting this for over a year and a half now sounds a bit troublesome to me.

i know de_roiste that tevez is just gonna come whether u l;ike iot or not i kinda like the player as well but i knew this was coming fromm the time his rumors started
West ham literaly stood on his shoulders last year in the end
And i was also thinking in the terms of many other Man u fans in the line of aerial challenger and someone who is not similar to rooney
But hell i am sure i’ll be dancing whjen he scores for us At OT in any game that comes by :-)

I’m very certain Owen isn’t made out of glass. It’s true he has
had some injuries in the past, but I blame last year on bad luck.

I am a bit worried, however, about a story that came up on skysports
in which SAF hints at letting Smith and Rossi go. The Smith part
    doesn’t bother me - we’ve seen that coming for a while - it’s Rossi
that scares me. This kid is going to be amazing. However, there is
another story today on skysports that says that Lyon may be interested
in Saha. I know Saha and Rossi aren’t the same types of forwards,
but wouldn’t it make sense to dump Saha (for a decent amount, of course)
in order to make room for Rossi? Although I guess if Smith leaves it
would make sense to hold on to both.

  7. Grognard says:

I have wondered all along why Heinze would want to leave and at the same time encourage cose friend Carlos Tevez to sign with United. I have always believed that when healthy, Heinze is in the top there or four left backs in the world. His current form at the Copa America only confirmed that. SAF would be foolish to hand the starting slot to Evra as he is clearly not at the the same level as Gaby. Keep Gaby and encourage his growing confidence by playing him. Then all rumours of him wanting to leave will disappear.

  8. Dash says:

SAF also said some thing like Smith and Rossi might be on their way out. I seriously hope that this is not true for Rossi.

  9. JK says:

One good news, one bad news. I really hope Hargreaves is not like Saha
