Manchester United Team News & Preview

Jose Mourinho has the majority of his squad available to him with only Eric Bailly and Zlatan Ibrahimovic sidelined.

The boss rotated the majority of the squad for Friday night’s 4-0 FA Cup thrashing of Yeovil Town whilst Tottenham were in action the following day being held 1-1 at Newport County.

This gives us an advantage in terms of recovery, preparation and being fresh.

Alexis Sanchez is in line to make his Manchester United Premier League debut in this one after starring at Yeovil last week.  The Chilean scored in Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur in the North London derby back in November.

Predicted Man Utd Starting Lineup (3-4-1-2): David de Gea; Chris Smalling, Phil Jones, Marcos Rojo; Antonio Valencia, Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic, Ashley Young; Alexis Sanchez; Marcus Rashford, Romelu Lukaku

Tottenham Hotspur Team News & Preview

Tottenham have had a couple of illnesses in the camp over the past week or so with Hugo Lloris and Christian Eriksen missing their last two matches as a result.  Both are expected to return to the starting lineup this evening however.

Toby Alderweireld is back in training following a lengthy lay-off with a hamstring injury but this match will come too soon for the Belgian to make his return.  His last Premier League match was Spurs’ 1-0 loss at Old Trafford back in October.

In his absence Davinson Sanchez has formed a good partnership with Jan Vertonghen in the middle of a back four.  Serge Aurier is expected to have shaken off a knock to return to his right-back role.  On the opposite side, former-United target Danny Rose is ruled out with a knee injury.

Erik Lamela is the other doubt for the hosts.  Harry Winks is ruled out.

Predicted Tottenham Starting Lineup (4-2-3-1): Hugo Lloris; Serge Aurier, Davinson Sanchez, Jan Vertonghen, Ben Davies; Eric Dier, Mousa Dembele; Heung-min Son, Dele Alli, Christian Erikson; Harry Kane

Manchester United vs Tottenham Key Stats

36 – Paul Pogba is unbeaten in his last 36 Premier League appearances (W23, D13).

99 – Harry Kane is on 99 goals in 139 Premier League matches heading into this evening’s game.

414′ – David de Gea has kept clean sheets in four consecutive games totally 414 minutes, since conceding in the first half versus Burnley on Boxing Day.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester United Prediction

Manchester United are in excellent form since the turn of the year with five wins in all five games and are yet to concede a goal.

The addition of Alexis Sanchez is only a boost to the team in the attacking third and the Chilean superstar should have the beating of Serge Aurier if the Ivorian starts for Spurs.  Mauricio Pochettino’s side have been inconsistent as shown by their 1-1 draws versus Southampton and Newport County in recent weeks.

We were 1-0 winners at Old Trafford earlier this season in which Jose Mourinho’s tactics nullified the threat of Harry Kane.  I expect similar at Wembley Stadium and for Sanchez to be the difference maker.

Prediction: Tottenham Hotspur 0-1 Manchester United
