United are on vacation, you should be too

What the hell are you guys doing trawling for United news when the players are on a break and the manager’s off enjoying the sun?

Manchester United are not going to sign anyone this week, and despite what the Daily Mail and their ilk will have you believe, United aren’t going to sell anyone this week either.

Take a break, relax, and check back on Monday morning, when everyone reports back for pre-season training. That’s when we can really start worrying about who Fergie will sell and who (if anyone) he will bring in.

I do have a couple of articles lined up for the next two days that have nothing to do with transfers, so do come back tomorrow :)

I think no news is good news. All this fuss about signing a new striker when we have a great pair in Saha and Rossi. I mean, only one of them can play at a time, and even if Saha will be injured we still have the SuperSub(TM) on top of that.

Other teams would be only too excited to sign a talent like Rossi – and Saha when fit (must be over 50% even in a bad year) is still one of the best forwards in the premiership.

Last season we didn´t have any new signings apart from Carrick – even lost Ruud – and we won! Remember we have a whole team that just won the Premiership, why would any of them want to give up their place too easy?

You’re right. We’ve been hit by transfer fever.
It’s like when I play my Fifa2007. I fly through all the games just to get to the transfer season.

    Silly aint it? :-)

i know i said i won’t talk about transfers but dammit, this rossi business is pissing me off.

he’s not for sale, he’s not going to be sold, end of frackin story

IF he’s sold, it’ll be a dumb, dumb move, unless we get Tevez :P

No, on second thought, it’d still be a dumb move, tevez or berba or not.

Rossi will be a real stupid move. The main reason being that SAF never gave him opportunity to prove himself at United. Don’t think SAF will. But, then again, if the player want, what then?

Perhaps I’m setting myself up for major dissapointment, but I just have this strange feeling that Rossi will outperform on his expectations. I truly believe we have the next Zola here.

There’s absolutely no reason to sell Rossi. He’s been loaned out to get him time on the pitch and see what he’s made of. In Newcastle, for some reason, they didn’t use him. In Parma he proved himself. Now why would he be sold, when he’s done exactly what SAF wanted to see if he could do… it would make no sense.

If we sell Smith, Rossi will be number 3 or 4 (if we bring in someone). We all know that Saha will be injured through several weeks of the season. Last season Ole, our number 4, got 9 games from start and came on in 10 others. Had he not been injured, he would have had even more. I’d say that 10-15 games from start and 10-15 from the bench, would be good for Rossi, since he’s still very young. I’m pretty sure that’s what SAF has in mind for him in the coming season.

    Fully agree with you Tomas.

I wonder if SAF will give Rossi No.10?

  9. Tomas says:

The number 10 is a major question for me… it’s very unlike SAF not to have one, so it’ll be interesting, if someone gets it. Rossi could be an option, but he just doesn’t quite fit the bill yet… imo.

That’s what’s bothering me with this whole saga. I would love him to have it, but I think SAF prefers a more ‘traditional’ center forward. This shows that he might still sign someone. I hope that Rossi will not see it as detering his development and therefore decide to leave.
Suppose only SAF knows what his plans are…

I’d give Anderson the number 10 and let Rossi keep #19… remember we last won the treble with a goal-scoring ace in the #19 =0)

Keep Rossi, give him every chance this year and hopefully he’ll reward SAF in spades. He’s a natural finisher so should only benefit from the quality supply our midfield will provide him with.

    INSPARATION
SAF didn’t sign any defender, although last season’s final quarter was full of injury problems. The defensive line was destroyed. Will he take his lesson? NOP … He will have to use Hargreaves as a right back cause Gary and Wes will be injured (they usually do)…And that will prove what his best position is full back.
Not bad. we shall have Scholes back to the game and if not anderson will take his place and Rossi will take more chances.
    END OF INSPARATION
SUPER-FLEXIBLE SQUAD.WE NEED NO MORE PLAYERS.

Nikos – With Pique and Evans coming in, we can offload Silvestre and still be good for defenders (and I’m not talking about Bardsley and Simpson yet, nor Cathcart).

On Rossi – I think Aus_Devil is right, he’ll give Anderson #10, and Rossi will inherit #9 from Saha when he’s sold.

Oh fuck this, I’m going back to enjoy the last few days of peace before July starts. Someone get Parma to shut up though.

I hope we do sell Silvestre and maybe even Heinze ( although I would find this very hard to take because hes one of my fav players. We have too many good young defenders coming through and I would prefer them to be in the first team squad

AHMED the INSPARATION thing is just humour . Evans? don’t think so.not good enough. maybe when he grows up he’ll become A GREAT FRINGE PLAYER for united but not now. anyway I DON’T THINK WE NEED MORE PLAYERS.we have pique back and even hargreaves can play RB.
I think Anderson has said he prefers playing Wing Left Back than CM. SO, one more defender (humour.but that’s what he’s said)

Heh! You write a post asking people to take a break and you get more comments. I guess everyone is as jobless. (Although at the moment I am totally swamped.)
    Thanks anyway! :)

And yeah, somebody please tell Parma to shut their gob!

PS: Guys, don’t you have vacations?

Nikos – just because Hargreaves played RB once for England does not make him a shoe-in for the spot.

Watch Evans play before you discard him as a future fringe player.

First of all, how can a Red fan take a break from Man Utd? I’m at work right now and the only vacations I plan on getting this summer are the breaks I take to check on my team. (Needless to say, productivity is down).

Anyways, although I find the comments on players’ numbers to be the most boring topic pausible, I think it is a good sign that we are ready for the season. If anybody looked at a kop blog, they’d see the posts of people celebrating the arrival of Torres, even thoughe hasn’t even signed. Why? Because they’re nevous that Benitez hasn’t done anything and we’re way ahead of them. If you looked at an Arsenal blog, all you’d see is bitching about Henry and worries about Wenger and Fab leaving. I’m not gonna talk about how pathetic a Chelsea blog must be because it’s a waste of time, except to say that their new away kit is absolutely halarious and there is no better word to describe it. (I’m not saying I read those blogs, but I’m just speculating.)

The bottom line is that we are ready to compete for the Quadruple and any move that is made will only improve our chances.

Do you remember John Curtis? NO?
Well,he was supposed to be Brown’s def partner. He was a great Central Def at 19 and both of them were supposed to be England’s next defending power. Can you imagine this?
    IN 2007
Brown and Curtis as England’s centre backs. hohohoho. freaky funny…
we shall see.as a 19yo boy Evans is very good.by the time he’ll be 25 and then we shall see. he played for Sunderland and has never played a premiership match… CALM DOWN AHMED.
