Manchester United look set to make an surprising bid for Raheem Sterling, as they hope to gain advantage of the impasse between Liverpool and the 20-year-old.
Sterling is understood to have told Brendan Rodgers that he will not renew his contract with the club, as he felt Liverpool tried to “bully” him into signing a new deal and while the Merseyside club has stated that Sterling will not leave the club in the summer, the player is expected to demand a move away.
United have already signed Memphis Depay for £25m from PSV Eindhoven but Louis Van Gaal looks set to add a couple of significant signings to his squad in the summer and, according to the Guardian, Sterling is the latest name on the United manager’s list.
The England international has netted 11 goals this season and has attracted interest from Manchester City and Arsenal, but United have now joined the race and could test Liverpool’s resolve this summer.
