“United didn’t believe in me”

chicharito-javier-hernandez-real-madrid_3198642Javier Hernandez has said that he left Manchester United because the club didn’t believe in him and he has embraced the opportunity of making the most of his season-long loan at Real Madrid.

Having played a pivotal role in United’s title-winning campaigns in 2011 and 2013, Hernandez fell out of favour under David Moyes last season, making only six starts before being shipped out on loan on transfer deadline day this summer.

Hernandez, who played in Tuesday’s 5-1 demolition of Basel in the Champions League, claimed he left Old Trafford as he felt United no longer had faith in him.

“There was no confidence. I remained patient and that’s why I’m here today. It was a very tough year especially because they didn’t believe in me,” he said in an interview with Claro Sports.

The Mexican insisted that he couldn’t be happier in Madrid and is determined to impress Carlo Ancelotti.

“I had the chance to meet Ancelotti when he was Chelsea coach. The faith he has in his players motivates me and makes me work hard,” he added.

“I really want to make the most of my time here. Any footballer dreams about joining Real Madrid. I know I’m here for a reason. The statistics support me, I’m a good player and a good person.”
