United re-ignite interest in Real star

NaniWith Manchester United facing the prospect of losing Nani in the not to distant future, Sir Alex Ferguson is said to be closely monitoring Angel Di Maria’s situation at Real Madrid.

Nani could decide to leave United in the summer as talks over a new contract have failed to find a resolution.

The Portuguese winger’s current deal expires in 2014 but the club are already planning for his departure.

One final round of talks are scheduled but if Nani does go, Di Maria could be coming in.

Di Maria - Real MadridUnited scouted the Argentina international extensively and approached Benfica over a sale back in 2010 but Madrid trumped them.

Jose Mourinho splashed out over ??20m for the winger but his performances in Spain have been mixed.

Reports in Portugal claim the 24-year-old could be moved on in the summer and that has placed United on high alert.

Di Maria has a long contract at the Bernabeu – his existing deal still has five years to run – but that will not put Sir Alex Ferguson off if Nani does go.

Should Nani be allowed to leave without a fight? Are United right to give up on Nani? Is Nani mad to manufacture a way out of the club?

I know Nani has a huge following on RedRants but he also has plenty of detractors. How do you rate or summarise his United career if he were to leave?
