Henriquez Loaned to WiganWigan Athletic have signed Manchester United’s Chilean striker Angelo Henriquez on loan until the end of the season.

The 18-year-old forward was signed by United from Universidad de Chile in the summer but has yet to make his senior debut, he did however appear for Chile for the first time last month against Serbia.

“We’re really excited about Angelo because he is a very young man with a huge potential,” Wigan manager Roberto Martinez told the Wigan website. “He’s a goalscorer with clever movement inside the box and has had a very successful time with his former club Universidad.”

Henriquez was happy with the move. “This is a fantastic opportunity for me and I am really excited after the manager has given this chance for me to prove myself,” he said. “Now I need to work to try and earn my place in the team.”

Wigan has proved to be a decent place to gain experience in the past with fellow Red Tom Cleverley spending a successful season there in 2010/11. Cleverley made 25 appearances, scored 4 goals and impressed Martinez, Ferguson and also then England manager, Fabio Capello in his short time at Wigan. Hopefully Henriquez will benefit in similar fashion and begin to display the talent United believe he has after producing only a few moments of promise during his season in the U21′s.

Good Luck Angelo.

  • With the latest citeh melt-down it’s clear that it’s a club with a huge identity problem. Open training sessions that gives them maximum media attention have now turned into a paparazzi feeding fest – gawking at how ineptly they run their club.
You would have to think that something is awry when the amalgamation of the worlds most expensive team languish seven points behind their worst enemy, eliminated from European competition, and having fisticuffs on the training field!
Not that it’s just awry, it’s downright peculiar. WTF, if you call yourself champions you need a dictionary at hand to remind yourself that nowhere does it say that “self destruction” is a part of that.
Beyond inane, they are writing the book on how not to defend a title.

Mancini does not seem like a man on a mission. Instead he portrays a lunatic waiting for the white-coats to take him away. And perhaps they should before the poor bastard picks up a gun a kills someone.

Of course nothing could be sweeter right now for us and perhaps this is all a well oiled ploy to lull us into the same decline that we had last term. With Ferguson foaming at the mouth almost every game, I doubt it. This is ridiculously a lucky bunch of mercanaries trying to simulate what they did a season ago.

No fucking chance you dreamers!!

Angelo Henriquez looks like he has lots of potential judging from the few short videos I have seen of him.

Wigan is a great club to go to so I am please with the move. They have a great attacking style of play which can only benefit a player trying to break into United’s first team.

We have way too many strikers on our books right now for Henriquez to get games so this is probably his best chance of playing regularly.

I would still like to see 24 year old Robert Lewandowski join our club in the summer. He would provide adequate cover for Robin van Persie.

van Persie is 29, Rooney is 27, Lewandowski is 24, Chicharito is 24, Welbeck is 22, Henriquez is 18

I think Ferguson would just want to keep the pipeline full.

With a lot of hard work I believe Angelo Henriquez will turn out to be another quality player.

I look forward to seeing him PLAY for Wigan.
