United suffer RVP blow

Robin-Van-Persie-lies-injured-during-the-match-against-Swansea-CityManchester United will be without Robin Van Persie for at least a month, after the Dutchman suffered an ankle injury against Swansea on Saturday.

Van Persie was forced to play on as Louis Van Gaal had already used all of his three substitutions, but ended up hobbling around for the last 20 minutes of the match as United chased an equaliser that did not materialise.

The Dutchman has struggled for form this season, looking sluggish and off the pace in recent weeks, drawing criticism from section of United fans for his attitude on the pitch, which has been a long way away from the intensity he displayed at the World Cup.

Van Persie’s injury comes at a crucial time for United, with an FA Cup quarter final against Arsenal only 10 days away and games against Spurs and Liverpool coming up in March, which could play a major role in determining whether United will clinch a top four spot.

With Van Persie out until April, Radamel Falcao has another, and perhaps last, chance to step up and impress in the hope of convincing Van Gaal to offer him a permanent contract this summer.
