United win easy, questions on Evans and Rossi

Tag: Match ReportsAhmed Bilal @ 9:43

United won their last two pre-season friendlies quite comfortably, as expected.

You can read the match reports here:

Glentoran 0-3 Manchester United
Dunfermline 0-4 Manchester United

Highlights: Scholesy got a 90-minute runout (though I still think that he’ll be on the bench for Reading and Portsmouth), Nani, Anderson and Hargreaves look to be settling in well and 3 or 4 goals against this quality of opposition isn’t anything to brag about, but the lads got a decent game under their belts and it’ll do them well in preparation for the game on Sunday against Reading.

I do have one question though – where the hell is Johnny Evans? Have I missed something in the last two weeks? His name doesn’t appear on any of the two teamsheets (he could have been an unused sub at Glentoran but I would have thought that he’d get 30 mins at least).

Any ideas?

Oh, and I also read earlier that Fergie said that United have an option to bring Rossi back to Old Trafford at some point – I believe it means that United have a first-option on him should he be leaving Villareal. Thoughts on that?

Evans had a minor injury in an earlier friendly.. so i guess he was probably rested to avoid any accidents..

The rossi story is interesting. To be honest, the first option thing is kind of useless. There’s no ‘agreed fee’ that we can offer that they must accept. If he has a good couple of seasons and we want him, well have to pay 15m+ to get him – like any other player. If Fergie wanted this option, he should’ve sent him on an extended loan deal – like we’re doing with Tevez – with an option to recall or something

Jonny Evans was injured for the Glentoren and Dunfermline games. I think that united could buy rossi back after tevez’s two year loan ends, as this would be a much cheaper option than the £30m price tag of tevez and rossi would have gained some valuabe experience.

i saw the glentoran match yesterday, and i can see why they say nani is the next ronaldo, but i honestly think that in a few years nani could be better than ronaldo, i mean yea the team is shite but you can see proimise in him. anderson linked up well with the the team, and excepitionaly well with nani, and i think when anderson is back in top form(he was injured last season) he’s the one to watch out for.

Yes, Evans got injured during the game against Doncaster. There’s fear of an extended absence due to a groin.

Evans picked up an injury in the game against peterborough(not sure of the spelling)he was actually in crutches but one of the physios said he wouldnt be out for too long.i watched the dunfermline game in scotland and our spanish defender pique is a really good prospect.he is 20 or something but has all the qualities needed for a top class centre back. He is quick,6 foot something, and is comfortable on the ball and is very aggressive i see him as a future manutd centre back. He team totally outclassed the opposition and the best part of the night was scholes getting 90 min!i disagree with you ahmed i think he will start on sunday.

How do we know that there isn’t a set fee though? SAF barely even talked about it so we might be able to buy him back for like 20m…

I heard a rumour that the new squad numbers would be officially released today, any news yet? Hopefully this coincides with the signing and unveiling of Tevez, thus allowing him to play some part against Reading.

Evan is injured. While the Rossi buy back clause is great. We can go an buy him back to replace Ole and possible Saha next summer.

hopefully we’ll see united with rooney tevez and rossi at some point of time.

but for now, anderson and nani looks like 2 great captures. brilliant young players with a bright future ahead. the game last night showed glimsps of the pace nani has and the creativity anderson can bring in the future.

JJ – I have no issues with it – Nani has been doing it for a while, and he’s good at it, it’s not as if he’s doing something new and the risk of him getting injured is quite minimal.

Nani has a bigger risk of getting injured in training from tackles or during the game from opposition defenders than he does from his goal-scoring celebrations.

Still, you’d want the boss to cut down on ANY chances for injuries, so it makes sense for Fergie to want to clamp down on it. I doubt Nani will stop though :)

Well some tabloid reported that SAF had said to nani to cut down on it when he was having a minor injury in ASIA so that it does not reoccur
if he’s fit he aint gonna stop it that is for sure
