United have not won a trophy since lifting the title in 2013 and look unlikely to end their drought this season but Van Gaal was adamant United’s decline is only momentary and will not stretch much longer.
“The club is too big, too good and organised,” he said.
“We also have a great infrastructure and we are improving that every year.
“I am part of the transition, so I cannot imagine that [a lengthy title drought] shall happen with Manchester United.
“But when it is happening to Liverpool, it can also happen to Manchester United.
“But I cannot imagine that, because we are in transition and we are going in the right way.
“Maybe it shall take a longer time, but I cannot imagine it will be the same for Manchester United.”
