I know, after being inactive for what is certainly the longest period of, well, inactiveness, this might be pushing it a bit. But it sure looks like the main period that was sucking the life out of my offline world has passed, and I shall be able to bring back the regularity that characterized this blog in the past.

Anyway, where was I?… Yes! The Soccerlens 2008 Awards for recognizing excellence in blogging is back and I sure have the cheek to request everyone to nominate Red Rants for some of the categories — whichever is relevant. I suppose Best Blog Community comes closest, although you are free to nominate us for whatever category you feel like. If you scroll down to this page you’ll find a form where you can cast your nominations.

Cheers, and I’ll sure be back to catch up with United news, analysis, expert opinion, jokes etc. pretty soon.

Hi, long time reader, first time poster.

I was wondering what you guys thought about the rumours linking midfielder Axel Witsel to United? He’s part of a very promising generation of Belgian players (the years of being ashamed of our national side finally seem to have come to an end ;) )and definitely has a lot of potential. He can play all across the midfield, but until he grows a little stronger, I think he’d make a good understudy for either wing or AMF in a three man midfield. I’m just not sure if he’s ready for a club like United yet. I’d love to see him playing for Manchester but going from our weak domestic league to a perennial title contender in the PL in one go may be too much of a leap for a 19 year old (then again it may just be my own bewilderment of having Belgian players linked with top European sides that’s clouding my judgment). A lot of clubs are looking at him, so I don’t think Standard will be letting him go on the cheap (somewhere between £10 – 15 million probably) but he could be worth twice as much two or three years from now. So, any thoughts? Or are these rumours only news to Belgians hoping to finally see some players making it with big clubs abroad? ;)

PS: Great site by the way, even with the recent drought in posts it’s still my main source for United-related news.

I haven’t commented on anything in a while, but this has to be the best blog of any team on the internet. The community is fantastic!! Best of luck in the competition, RR; you do have plenty of fans. All that is left is for us to move our lazy fingers and vote!

Has anyone seen Zoran Tosic played? The Mail say that a deal has been agreed, subject to permit application.

@RedDevilEddy: You mean poster/commenter. Definition of Blogger is one who runs a blog or writes blog posts on the main article. Sorry to be pedantic there, but I see it’s a common misconception among a lot of people. But I get your drift :)

    Anyway, Preview’s up

I love this blog. Absolutely wonderful, all the heated debates etc are great. Although I hate to even think of it but I think RR will face stiff compettion from Arseblog. Thats a wonderful blog. Shame its an arsenal blog.

To be frank, although you are doing a decent job, you are not yet up there with the likes of ROM. The sole reason being, you never really care to follow up news and articles. You are just lazy.
But to give credit where its due. Yes, after unitedrant has died, you are the one who continued to put a decent blog on the internet.
And by the way just begging to vote is like Chelsea asking the fans to fill the stadium with freebies, unlike ROM which is class!!
