Who is your Manchester United’s Player Of The Month for November?

Red Ranter is away saving his mistress from the evil that is anti-abortion evangelism - in his time of need, I’ll be filling in at Red Rants for the next couple of days. Feel free to send those abusive emails my way.

Personally, I think November wasn’t a great month for United - we slipped in the title race (just), conceded that late goal to Arsenal in the most ridiculous few seconds of ping-pong football that I’ve seen in the United fox for a while, and we haven’t been helped with a couple of niggling injuries either.

The plus side is that this season United’s squad depth has shone through, and the players are shaping up well for the future.

Alright then - the official site has a poll up for United’s player of the month for November, so here’s the list, and off you go discussing in the comments:

Anderson
Wes Brown
Patrice Evra
Cristiano Ronaldo
Carlos Tevez

  1. karl says:

    Anderson. Definitely Anderson.
    Ronaldo close second.

  2. Gov says:

ROnaldo..no doubt ..he single handedly won us the games against blackburn, sporting and fulham.

  3. man utd jaluo says:

it def has to be ronaldo. at the moment he is man utd, i think were it not for him, we would be trailing arsenal with 6points and have a crucial tie in roma next week to top group for champs league

  4. Jameso says:

Well said karl. It is not only about scoring goals. Remember the last time, we had scholes out what happened. Now it dosen’t look like we are missing him at all. REASON: ANDERSON. Like to see anyone who would oppose me on this.

  5. Jameso says:

    [ Man Utd jaluo ]

Read well, It is player of the month, not player for two weeks. ronald just flashed for the last two weeks, Rooney for the first two weeks. But Anderson has been a consistent player throughout.

  6. Matt says:

Without a doubt Ronaldo. With Rooney out and Tevez for all his creativity and work rate not firing and Saha a shadow of his former self, we have needed goals and Ronaldo has provided them

  7. man utd jaluo says:

jameso hope u don have a short memory as u try to imply. little history lesson for the month of nov.

ronaldo has neeted five times in four matches during November. His strikes included an important goal at the Emirates Stadium, two in two minutes at home to Blackburn Rovers and a curling beauty against Dynamo Kyiv in the Champions League.

But it was another goal in Europe – his last-minute scorcher against former club Sporting Lisbon – that landed him the November Goal of the Month prize. With United and Sporting locked at 1-1, Ronaldo stepped up to blast home a free-kick from 25 yards and secure top spot in Group F.

surely jameso can u really say thats 2 weeks. i don deny that anderson has been great but not to comparison with ronaldo’s contribution to the team i think thats what makes a great player,,

que to jameso, pliz list contributions anderson has made in the last month, assists, goalz,

  8. Jameso says:

The winner with no arguments; ANDERSON.

  9. Jameso says:

    [Man utd jaluo]

You are saying the same thing, these games were towards the end of november. Yes one against arsenal, but to be honest with urself mate apart from that he sucked in that game. He couldn’t go past clichy once. Even fabregas sucked in the match and he scored. Anderson bossed a meidfield on the day, which included Hargo, Fabregas, Ronaldo, Giggsy, Rosicky, Hleb. The young man stood out. Whenever he plays, there is a spring in utds gme. Remember when he came on against Bolton. that was when we started having an attacking treat. Reason mte, it is not only about goals.

  10. man utd jaluo says:

then lets do this jameso. lets see what other fans say and we tally then we see who scoops it,,i say let it be between ronaldo and anderson..

p.s,,i luv anderson and i think he is great but not compared to ronaldos perfomance in nov.

  11. Taehr says:

Ronaldo definately.anderson has done brilliantly no doubt and he will be a world class player in the near future but for november it has to be ronaldo.top scorer in the champions league and premier league.he is playing terrific stuff and most important he has contributed more than anderson.he won the fulham game, the blackburn game and the sporting game.almost won the arsenal game.i just cant see how he cannot be number 1 for this month.

  12. Jameso says:

    Taehr and Manutd jaluo

I don’t know, It is PLAYER OF THE MONTH!!!!!!!, not player for two weeks

  13. karl says:

    [man utd jaluo]
Do you really want to list Anderson’s contributions?
    Well, lets see, he successfully:
    1. Filled in for Scholes (btw, Scholes is our main playmaker)
    2. Filled in for Scholes
    3. Filled in for Scholes
    4. Filled in for Scholes
    5. Filled in for Scholes

And, there were also the odds and ends of keeping Fabregas under wraps, bringing back creativity into our midfield (which actually lacked for years now), boot Carrick to the bench, transform midfield from defense to attack, and give us hope for the future. Did I mention that he also Filled in for Scholes?

  14. karl says:

Anderson did such a brilliant job of filling in for Scholes, if I were SAF, I would seriously consider leaving Scholes on the bench when he returns to fitness…

  15. Jameso says:

If you are using that, then rooney is player of the month. His goal ratio was better than ronaldo until he gt injured. a daily was even once saying that the tev-wazza partn. was making ron look ordinary. Don’t get me wrong, he carried the team when we needed him the most (Wazza Injury) lets see now wazza is back if the tev-wazza pairing will not take the limelite. Who provides the passes for them (ANDERSON)

  16. man utd jaluo says:

karl theaz a small prob here, u r not fergy. so wen scholes comes back he’ll def go back to C.M
i think the reason u guyz are rooting for anderson is coz he has been a revalation in nov, but really u cant compare him to ronaldo..i’d rate anderson after ronaldo, then evra,,

  17. Jameso says:

    [Karl]

Bless you mate. Don’t know what other achievement you want from a man who filled the boots of paul scholes well

  18. man utd jaluo says:

jameso and karl..have we won any game when ronaldo was not playing and anderson was playing in november. NO..have we won games when ronaldo was there and anderson was benched.YES.simple as that

  19. man utd jaluo says:

its jus recently that anderson himself said “ronaldo is the daddy”

  20. karl says:

I’m not even trying to compare him to Ronaldo. Ronaldo is one of the ‘modern’ game’s greatest players (imo the greatest), there is no one like Ronaldo. Period. This is not about who is the best player.

Ronaldo is a match-winner no doubt. He is also our most valuable player no doubt.

November however was not that great for him. Funny thing is, he gets measured by the standards that he himself set for himself. Eg. Other than his goal against Sporting, the rest of his match against them were poor. That goes for all his other games during November(except for this one on Monday where he played exceptionally).

Btw, for all his greatness and goal-scoring prowess, he is a winger. He sometimes neglect that part of the game. My only criticism against him is that he is still sometimes too selfish (like a striker is supposed to be).
    Still love him though.

  21. karl says:

    Let’s put it this way:
Because of what Anderson did in November…
if SAF were to tell me that we are going to buy Kaka, Requelme or Ronaldinho, the I would ask “But what about Anderson’s development? Won’t it dampen his development?
I would not have done it before for any other player.
(This is not to say I would apose the buy, but I will ask the questions).

  22. karl says:

[”its jus recently that anderson himself said “ronaldo is the daddy””]
I wonder if that maybe had anything to do with the fact that Ronaldo pimps for them?
    :-)

  23. Jameso says:

    Man utd jaluo

We are not trying to compare the two players. Remember, it is player for November not who is a better player. Please read the topic well.

  24. Jameso says:

    [Karl]

Maybe its true, a least he is older than them, so he is the big daddy.

  25. Liam O'Kelly says:

I am as big an Anderson fan as anyone but Ronaldo has been better than him. Also (some people might disagree) Anderson hasn’t really played very well in the last couple of games. Maybe I just expect more of him but he definately needs to start taking shots when he is in good positions.

  26. Jameso says:

ANDERSON has just shown that he would be worth every penny of the 20m+ even SAF knows this. look at his contribution this november. Let me remind you again. Bossing a middle that included HARGO, FABREGAS, HLEB, ROSICKY, GIGGS, and even your own RONALDO [ to me the best player in the world- forget that joker called kaka]

  27. man utd jaluo says:

a bit of the topic but what do u guyz thinks gonna happen at st james park. i think arsenal will draw

  28. Jameso says:

    [Liam O’kelly]

Where have you been watching your matches, or do you watch matches half asleep.

  29. Jameso says:

    [Liam O’ Kelly]

I agree with you he needs seperate shooting practices mate.

  30. Jameso says:

    [Man utd jaluo]
Agree with you. have always said arsenal are not the same when especially Hleb (not fabregas) is not playing. (Wigan game). their one touch passing is only great when Hleb is on the field. When he got injured at the villa game, see what happened to them. Now they don’t have fabregas, Hleb, now Flamini has joined the list. Now the injury list is piling, lets see how they cope with it.

  31. Liam O'Kelly says:

Jameso, the fact is we are all currently veiwing Anderson with rose-tinted glasses and seem to be oblivious to his mistakes, and there have been a good few mis-placed in the last few games. Also against Sporting when I really expected him to shine he looked pretty ordinary and made a lot of backwards passes which really annoyed me. Also when he finally took a shot he completely messed it up. No doubt he is a good, borderline great player and is probably my favourite on the team after Rooney and Vida but don’t let your expectations get too high for the time being.

  32. karl says:

Forgive my ignorance, but when is the Arsenal/Newcastle game?
I don’t have the energy to siff through internet searches of Arsenal to find out.

I agree, Anderson should start taking shots. He’s tying to play it too safe.
Maybe SAF should play him as second striker against Roma.

  33. karl says:

Liam, I think he was ok in the Sporting game. Better than most of the team.
I know he should start taking shots, but, we tend to forget that it took Fabregas a couple of seasons to start scoring. Maybe we’re rushing Anderson? How long did it take Carrick to score?
Still think he should get a couple of run-ins as second striker though.

  34. Jameso says:

    Liam O’kelly
Everyone in the sporting game sucked inthe first half. You would blame anderson for backward passes, cos he was always thinking ahead of the others around him. (fletch, nani,one-legged saha) that was why he looked like they were backward passes. He has a good footballing brain. He expected runs to be made to those positions. You could recall in the second half, when pple with the same footballing brain as himself were on the pitch (Tevez, giggsy, Hargo). We saw the best of him. i.e audacious pass to Hargo. When you put the right pple with him, he performs, but when u put pple like Fletcher, Carrick, Saha around him, what do you expect.

  35. Jameso says:

Well said KARL, you definitely have earned my respect with that statement. Everyone even ronaldo sucked in the first half with sporting. A

Anderson is the best player for the month. No arguments.

  36. Jameso says:

Guess you all have seen the results that ronaldo is player of the month for November. Don’t know how but congratulations to the guy. To me, (not cos am a utd fan) the best player in the world.

  37. karl says:

    I second your comment #36

  38. juanpablo says:

    Tevez….

  39. Grognard says:

Ronaldo fills the back of the net. Enough said.

  40. Shannon says:

Leave scholes on the bench when he returns to full fitness… fucken short memories some united fans
Don’t get me wrong anderson is great, but put him on the left and scholes back in his middle for me

  41. busingye says:

jameso,u have to admit ronaldo was the main man against arsenal.saying he was poor is being ignorant.one goal, one assist, could have had another if giggs hadnt blasted the ball into orbit.now about rooneys goal ratio,he is a striker.period.and lets get one thing clear.rooney is good, but ronaldo is on another level.now to the topic,i have to give it to anderson.

  42. Conor says:

Ronaldo was the better player over the whole month, I just think everyone’s talking about Anderson now because he did much better than expected and it looks like he will become a United legend, but Ronaldo was the better player during the month, without him we would never have won as many games, without Anderson I think we could have. But both are brilliant players and it’s great having them in our team to watch them become world class.

  43. Jameso says:

    Well said conor

    Busingye

lets not go into the game with arsenal. He bossed the midfield, it was only when he was subd that fab started having ball possession.

  44. Conor says:

Busingye Anderson was our man of the match in that match, which proves that being player of the month/match isn’t just about scoring and assists, it’s about input into the game, but I still think Ronaldo edged it.

  45. karl says:

Just to prove a point to you guys, I’ve cut out the animal picture in my November calendar and pasted a copy of Anderson in there. Now he IS the player of the month and there’s absolutely nothing that you guys can do about it!!!!!
    :-)

  46. busingye says:

jameso, you like shifting goalposts each time its your turn to defend.ronaldo is our star maan so in big matches he is tight marked.no team can be stupid enough to let him loose.credit where its due.for him to be that marked alone is a major contribution.it frees one man or more.for him to deliver like he did is incredible.do u realise that even ruud the man did not score against the big teams?how many?that input alone should be lauded.

  47. Jameso says:

    [Busignye]

You are getting everything wrong. I would never place anderson over ronaldo mate. I only said he edged him out in work-rate

  48. Conor says:

“do u realise that even ruud the man did not score against the big teams”, I really doubt thats the case.

  49. BUSINGYE says:

conor, tell me how many times ruud scored against big teams.undoubtedly the best striker at the timebut talk about liverpool, chelsea and arsenal.even in the champions league.u can even bring holland to the equation.big players are marked out of big games.
