Why Heinze Won’t Go to Liverpool
The answer is very simple really.
Manutd.com carries a report where Heinze says that he would deliberate about a move to another club. But the club needs to really, really convince him that the move would be right for him.
So why would he not move to Liverpool?
First of all, he wants to move to a really big super club the status of Man United, if he does move. Secondly, he is actually very happy at United, terming it as ‘perfect’ here at OT. He’s already been made captain here and won the title. Something, that’s difficult to imagine at Anfield.
“I already play for one super-club and other ones, such as Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus, have been mentioned,â€
Ouch! No mention of Liverpool. That’s got to hurt. So Rafa, stay away. Forget it. A transfer from OT to Liverpool is never going to happen. Unless you want Kieran Richardson.

A really super club-as in should be competing in the later stages of the Champions League each year………………….hhhhhmmmm let me think which on the clubs in red that would be! You sir are a numpty, Heinze may well join the Mighty Reds as they are developing a team that should lead a real challenge for the Prem. Also a lot more Spaniards and Argies at Anfield not to mention the Coach.
July 3rd, 2007 at 10:19
big super club the status of Man United! How can you be a big super club when you only won the European cup as many times as Nottingham Forest !A super club must have won it 5-7 times .Heinze can buy out hes contract and sign with any other club with out United can do anything about it .lets see whats happen .
July 3rd, 2007 at 10:20
cue hordes of Pool fans who will blindly argue Liverpool’s greatness…
July 3rd, 2007 at 10:20
Sure Man U is a Super club… with 2 Champion Leagues in 100 yrs… We did it 5 times… and won the league 18 times…
July 3rd, 2007 at 10:24
Which club has won the most English League Titles?
Which English club has won the most European Cups/Champions Leagues?
Liverpool and Liverpool
You can call yourselves whatever you like but its trophies that matter and we have won more than you.
Champions of Europe twice? LOL LOL LOL Same as Forest!
July 3rd, 2007 at 10:25
That seems fair enough, as a LFC fan, I’m a bit ambiguous about signing Heinze. (I found this article on newsnow by the way, I haven’t been trawling MU forums looking to have a dig).
No arguments about you being a bigger club than us, for the moment, and that it’s easy to assume that a move from you to us could be viewed as a step down. But with Riise, Aurelio and probably even Arbeloa already lined up as our left backs, it puzzles me why we’re linked with a player who, good as he is, isn’t going to set the world alight at Anfield even if he wasn’t a current MU player.
For one I hope this doesn’t happen. Yes like I say he’s a decent left back, but he’s not in my opinion a good enough player to make the switch, and there are other targets out there for us.
Anyway, if it does happen, how would ManU fans treat him if he lined up for us at Old Trafford? I remember when Barmby signed for us from the Toffees and the shite he got at Goodison was terrible, though he did go on to score the winner so it made them shut up.
July 3rd, 2007 at 10:28
When I first read the comments I thought it was one of a bitter blue, but then hey Man who, you dont surprise us with your little talk. 5 times, says it all, super club we are, super club you would like.
July 3rd, 2007 at 10:30
We dont want that twat anyway. Anyone who wears that filthy jersey never deserves to wear a liverpool shirt, although I am sure he would love a good run in the champions leauge with a team that has a genuine chance of winnin it……
July 3rd, 2007 at 10:30
ManYoo can keep him……furthermore there has never been a transfer from OT to ANFIELD for 43years and I’m sure the fans won’t like him as well. He’ll get plenty of offers after The Copa America, trust me.
July 3rd, 2007 at 10:31
@Ade
When last? Was it in your lifetime? or your father’s?
July 3rd, 2007 at 10:32
Manchester United last won the European Cup in the same century that my club, Bury FC, won the FA Cup twice.
July 3rd, 2007 at 10:33
Ahmed Bilal – cue hordes of Pool fans who will blindly argue Liverpool’s greatness…
Blindly?
July 3rd, 2007 at 10:34
That must surely be a shitty feeling hey? … To hear people say your club won the league (18times), but never actually seen it (once).
Is that perhaps why you’re on a United fansite instead of your own?
July 3rd, 2007 at 10:35
I’m sure Heinze is big and bold enough to decide himself. Why would he want to stay and play second fiddle to Evra who is not fit to lace his boots? Granted Heinze was a shadow of himself last season but he was injured for a long time, he was oyur player of the year during 2005/2006. He has won the league in England so maybe he wants to win the European Cup next? He has a far better chance of doing that at Anfield. Fergie is a great manager but apart from the 99 fluke he hasn’t come close whereas Rafa has led us to two finals in 3 seasons. No disputing Ferguson’s domestic prowess but in Europe he isn’t close to Benitez. This may turn Heinze’s head. I still think he’ll stay with your lot though
July 3rd, 2007 at 10:36
Ooooooh Karl, are you Oscar Wilde in disguise?
July 3rd, 2007 at 10:41
With the views of the history fc fans saying we won 18 league titles blah blah blah… With the same logic you could argue that Uruguay are one of the giants of international football
July 3rd, 2007 at 10:46
Why Heinze wont go to Liverpool? Fergie probably won’t sell him to us and if he does he’ll have to put up with almighty stick which would dwarf what Sol Campbell recieved but if you look at it objectively it would be a move that would make sense. We need a left back, Riise has had to many chances at left back and failed, and man u already have 3 or 4 left backs. In relation to the super club claim it’s Heinze who has encouraged Rafa to bid for him so whilst you would never expect a man u player to describe Liverpool as a super club if he joined us we’d be a super club and he wouldn’t mention man u. It’s the way of life footballers are becoming more and more like whores every year, see Henry who slated Barca last year joins them this year. Mr Bilal as for your comment about blindly argueing Liver[ool’s greatness We have won 18 titles, 5 European Cups 7 FA Cups and 6 League Cups (2 against your lot) which is pretty great, I know that man u fans like to say that football was easy before the premiership BOLLOCKS the fact is despite the chavs billions the biggest clubs in England are Liverpool and man u.
July 3rd, 2007 at 10:46
Behave. Super Club my arse.
Great teams win the European Cup – THATS HOW EVERYBODY ELSE JUDGES THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A GOOD CLUB & A SUPER CLUB. And no – Nottingham Forest is NOT a super club, and neither are you.
UEFA seedings for 2008 Champions League
1. AC Milan
2. Barcelona
3. LIVERPOOL
4. Inter Milan
5. Arsenal
6. Real madrid
7 = Chelsea
7 = MAN UTD
PS – He’s shit anyway
July 3rd, 2007 at 10:55
Karl, the beauty of it is, i have seen Liverpool won EVERYTHING. CL, League titles, FA, UEFA, Carling, you name it, i have witness it.
It doesnt really matter if we havent won in a while… go and check how many trophies we have won since 2000. I count ed 10…
I am not going to argue if it was my lifetime or my father’s lifetime. as this is irrelevant….
Manyooo have won the CL twice in their history… Madrid 9, ACMilan 7 Liverpool 5, You are sure a super club for been able to beat Wigan, Reading, etc with such players like Rooney, Ronaldo, and Rio… to win the league… what an achievement.
At least we can boost of beating Barca, Milan, Juve and Mr Liverpool a.k.a Chelsea… in the CL…
July 3rd, 2007 at 10:57
Mrs Liverpool.. A.K.A Chelsea…. We always beat them in the CL… so they are our litle girlfriend.
July 3rd, 2007 at 11:09
Methinks the Liverpool fans do protest too much. As usual.
July 3rd, 2007 at 11:12
lol How this was on news now I will never know….
anyways it’s nice to see such a debate between fans, I have to admit that Alex poached alot of the manure team that became champions and I also believe he took a little while to get going along with almost loosing his job!
The thing is everyone talks about Chelsea spending money after the team came in bringing the gary phil david giggs etc they have bought big and have done it often! Veron 28.1m Van horse face 20m (I will admit that was well spent) Rooney 30m rio 30m carric 18m ronaldo 14m stam was like 15m+!!! Cole 6m (I believe that was the record before shearer) saha 12-14m. After that first lot of players Manure have spent and spent!
you lot think your better than everyone else well 99% of Manure supporters DONT live in Manchester!
If Rafa can win in a league that was run by Barca and Real I’m sure he will do it here! as for Hinze he’s nothing more than a squad player needed for cover!
July 3rd, 2007 at 11:13
comment was made before Liverpools interest was known. The chance of him being at Anfield next year are high. Good player and a steal at 5m Wave bye bye.
July 3rd, 2007 at 11:19
@Ade
With a response like that I have to say – with foot in mouth – Respect!
July 3rd, 2007 at 11:19
Liverpool play boring football. Benitez kills off the game before it can even start to flow. And a team that are a bore to watch are no team at all.
July 3rd, 2007 at 11:19
The CL is a cup competition. Historically cup competitions can be won by lesser teams.
League titles are harder to win and a true test of the quality of a team. Yes Liverpool have won the league title 18 times and in the late seventies & eighties were a better (although on a World Stage not a bigger team) than Man U. However I think if you check recent history out of fifteen premier league titles how many have Liverpool won. 0! Man Utd? 9.
I rest my case
July 3rd, 2007 at 11:25
Benitez can only use the players at his disposal, You cant play like eto, if you have Bellamy, U cant play like Ronaldo, if you have Zenden or Pennant, so give the man a bit of respect. with the resources at hand, i think he has done well… He won CL with Biscan, Traore, Smicer, Dudek, etc… Arsenal cant win with henry and co, Manyoo cant win it with Rooney Rio and co… so lay off the man.
You cant expect Benitez to play like Barca… we just dont have those sort of players… A smart man is one that knows his limitations… Benitez knew this..
YOu saw what happened when Manyoo tried to attack Milan? you lot got reeped a new asshole. End of story
July 3rd, 2007 at 11:29
Ade, firstly, you CAN blame Benitez because the players at his disposal are the player he CHOSE to represent the club.
Secondly, United got made an ass because we DEFENDED against Milan as opposed to attacking them. Our own doing. Let’s hope SAF learnt from it.
July 3rd, 2007 at 11:33
Karl, We tried to buy Alves, Simao before Pennant. We tried to buy torres we got Bellamy, We are trying for Malouda, but at £17M we cant afford it.
He bought with whatever money is available… We dont have a sugar daddy like Chelsea… we cant pay 22M for SWP… it is just not our business model…
July 3rd, 2007 at 11:36
I for one would be fairly happy to have Heinze at Anfield. He is strong, determined and looks like he would die for his club. It does make me laugh though to see some the coments that get posted about the percieved size of the clubs. I will make one comment and that is the the so called super clubs he mentions have all won the European cup/champions league more times than United, as have Liverpool!! The way to measure the size of a club is by the number of trphies i nthe cabinet, not by the amount of fans in Surrey and Asia.
July 3rd, 2007 at 11:43
People swipe at United for buying big, perhaps Benitez should follow the same principle? Instead of buying 5 players @ 3mil, why not buy 1 player @ 15mil?
Can’t help myself for adding the following (don’t get me wrong its actually derived from your own words):
I’m ok with the fact that you guys ‘beat Barca, Milan, Juve…’ to get your title, we can only boast of beating lowly teams (like Liverpool).
July 3rd, 2007 at 11:44
As a Man u fan, i’d hate to see heinze move to Liverpool. but i can understand that, apart from Man U, Liverpool will the the only club he’d want to join in England.
Manchester United are a club which has been rebuilding since 2003/2004, and on paper, was not yet ready to recapture the league.. yet we did it, and did it with style by scoring 83 goals! yeah right liv beat barca, then lost to the likes of blackburn and newcastle. ask most of the pundits and they will tell u that the team which wins the league are always the best coz the league runs for 8 months! From now i think we can only get better, and this must be a frightening prospect for opponents. and yes u need to beat the likes of reading and wigan to win it
, and 6 points from a certain liverpool…but the again when u cannot win something the best excuse is “well i didnt care to win it anyway” lol dont forget we also used this excuse before!!!
Europe!! our holy grail!! well liverpool have been better there coz they play the calculating and conservative football required. i blieve that, considering the injury crisis and rather meagre squad united had last season, reaching the semis was already beyond expectations. the truth is that SAF will never compromise on united’s traditions of attacking football. we built our legend on that! i’d hate to see us playing the negative chelsea or liverpool way. and i believe we’ll win the CL again playing the United way, ie attacking! Despite having less trophies in our cabinet, United have always been the most mediatised and popular team in UK. with only 2 CL we have at worse the same prestige as Real, Milan and Liverpool. this is coz we never compromised on our attacking football traditions.
July 3rd, 2007 at 11:48
LOL, i am sure you love to amused yourself…. is your real name Alice? cos you re in wonderland….
July 3rd, 2007 at 12:00
@Ade, we beat you twice last season alone…
IMHO:
1. I don’t think Heinze meant Liverpool is not a Super Club…they are.
2. Liverpool’s CL record will make any club jealous.
3. To sell Heinze to Liverpool (or anyone for that matter) will be a big mistake – he is a damn good player.
4. Sorry, but, Liverpool do play boring football.
July 3rd, 2007 at 12:07
Sure you did. It is an exceptional season for you guys…. It is not going to happen again.
2 season ago. which team knocked you out of the F.A Cup?? same team that won it
July 3rd, 2007 at 12:19
Liverpool are a good cup team, I’ll give you that but they haven’t won the league in a very long time. They have a manager that knows how to play against big teams but you haven’t got a team that can grind out results match after match. Every match in the league against the top three for you is treated like a cup game.
July 3rd, 2007 at 12:29
Cant be doing with all this silly stuff between Utd and Liverpool fans so will comment on the proposed transfer from an unobjectionable liverpool fans pov.
I would welcome it. Heinze is a quality player and I think he could do a good job for us as well as quality cover at cb. I cant imagine it would happen and mainly due to the rediculous amount of grief he would get from Utd fans when he lined up against Utd at OT. Thats the sad world we live in.
July 3rd, 2007 at 12:52
as a man utd fan i quite like liverpool… (my brother supports them) but they do play boring football and i wouldnt like heinze to go cos he’s a great player.
Liverpool should be classed as a super club with their history and current record… The only reason they’re not mentioned in the same breath is that most super clubs have won their domestic leagues in the past 10 years.
July 3rd, 2007 at 12:58
To be honest, I think Heinze would fancy a move to Liverpool, especially if he wants to stay in England.
Put all the biased views aside United fans, you’ve got to admit, we’re a team that is going places. 2 European Cup finals in 3 years, along with an FA Cup, League Cup, Charity Shield and Super Cup. Admittidley the league title is missing, but, it will come…one day
July 3rd, 2007 at 13:32
hahaha what actually gets me is liverpool fans blabbering on about these 18 titles they have won…….. premiership how many times? we have won it 16 times, thats so far behind you’s, and yes fair play too you’s, in the CL you’s are the superteam, but its funny that a super team consists of teams winning it 5-7 times, if liverpool won it 4 times i bet it would consist off teams who won it 4-7 times lol… fact is yes you’s are a great team and there is no denying it, but its hardly as if you’s are light years ahead of united, i remember united had won 11 titles and liverpool laughed saying, 18 titles, not so far ahead now……….
July 3rd, 2007 at 13:51
LOL all these livers taking a vacation on a Utd Blog. I really feel sorry for you people.
Anyway I know Liver is a strong team in the cups. Respect on that.
But I’m not jealous, cuz our team has won the league, our goal scoring record is terrific. And of course it is still improving..
July 3rd, 2007 at 13:53
Go cry to ur mommy liverpool fans. And can u guyz tell me how many times Pool has won the premiere league. huh. i cant hear u. i cant hear u. now i get u NONE. from 1990 till now NOTHING. LOL LOL LOL thats same as sheffield Untd
July 3rd, 2007 at 15:51
Liverpool fans always mention that they won the league 18 times and same boring stuff when they are feeling embarassed. That has always been an excuse for them anyway. That’s why they will NEVER win the league again because they live only in the past. NONE of the liverpool players in the current squad have EVER won an EPL title!!! Pure academy players like fowler, mcmanaman, owen, gerrard and whoever is going to come will NEVER EVER win an EPL title…its a pain for all of you guys. that’s why you count your 18 leagues every time you want to cry LOL LOL LOL LOL!!!
SUPER CLUBs are those which show their class on the pitch and do not count on history!!!! Win an EPL league and then talk about super clubs. teams like porto, monaco played a CL final recently. that do not make them a super club. liverpool you WERE a super club, NOT in present and not even in your future dreams!!! your past is soooo distant that i never saw liverpool win a league.. BUT i saw united win it 9 times with a fantastic treble included!!!
July 3rd, 2007 at 18:17
I have had this arguement with so many Liverpool fans before….Ok Liverpool won the league 18 times so how many of their current players have ever won it? all I ever hear is ‘we’ve won it five times’ OK so you did but that’s like me going around saying ‘we won it first and that was ten years after most of the team were killed in a plane crash’ (we probably would have won it that year if that hadn’t happened. Liverpool have never won the premiership and have won the “champions league”(competition’s format changed at some point during the 90s) the same amount of times as United.Liverpool can’t talk about this season in the champions league because they both got knocked out by the same team and Liverpool wouldn’t have won it in 2005 if Milan hadn’t taken their foot off the gas so shockingly and arguably Liverpool wouldn’t have made it to the final if Chelsea were able to give their whole first team a rest the weekend before. Fernando Torres good as he is wont be the saviour Liverpool fans crave and the sooner they all get their heads out of Gerrard’s ass the better.
July 3rd, 2007 at 18:20
My, my!
The anger and hatred!
Liverpool are a big club. But not a super club. Not for the last 17 years.
You can’t be taken seriously if you cannot win the league even once for the last 17 years. Hell, Leeds have done it. So have Blackburn. Surely something must be amiss.
Madrid, Barcelona, Milan (United) have also won the leagues while winning the CL too in that time.
I bet when you guys go on about how this year is going to be *the* year, for many of the past seasons, you mean the EPL title, right?
July 3rd, 2007 at 18:28
I doubt Gaby would entertain signing for Liverpool – not a strong enough club; and he’s been well-treated by Man Utd. It would be a slap in the face to the club and fans to go to Liverpool, and Gaby’s got more class than that. Who would choose Pool when they could go to Barca, RM – or stay at United?
July 3rd, 2007 at 19:55
TO BE A SUPER CLUB YOU HAVE TO BE AT LEAST ONCE CHAMPION OF THE WORLD
July 3rd, 2007 at 20:17
Bla.. bla.. bla… all u scouser scums blabbering of winning more champions league and the league.. bla… bla… bla… watever… 23 years ago liverscums were a great club… let me repeat that again… 23.. two and three.. ok… 2 decades and three years they won the old division 1 title.. And the champions league… the one againts milan was a shock in football.. a nightmare..
But nevermind.. i believe rafa wants to buy heinze not for left back i guess but more as a center back… since liverscum has such lousy pairing of carriger n agger.. he intends 2 bolster up the center backs with someone aggresive.. well hope that doesn’t happen though.. i’ll belive he’ll juz stay till the end of his contract… i believe he will extend his stay at OT..
to end this.. STOP TALKING VERY ARROGANTLY, CHILDISH LIVERPOOL FANS OUT THERE!!!! ITS JUST SO COMMON TO SEE LIVERPOOL FANS ALWAYS TALKING ABOUT THEIR PAST GLORIES JUST TO MAKE THEM LOOK BETTER THAN MAN UTD… VERY CHILDISH!!!
July 3rd, 2007 at 23:09
It is amazing that some of you guys can figure out the premiership is the same as winning titles… It is ONLY a mere change of name… How difficult is this?
July 3rd, 2007 at 23:12
Liverpool is a Cup team…. LOL…. i thought football is about winning Cups… isnt it? we have won 10 of it since 2000…. super clubs are not clubs with champion leagues….
July 3rd, 2007 at 23:13
with 2 champion leagues to their name….. Remember… Fergie manage u guys for 21 yrs… and only won the CL ONCE…. Legendary…..stuff..
July 4th, 2007 at 4:43
yeah right and how many league titles did fergie win?? err i think its nine isn’t it??? yeah SAF won it 9 times! Liverpool dominated europe in the 80s in an era when european competitions were dominated by english clubs. if clubs like Forest and villa won the trophy i dont think its big deal that liv won 4. what they did was just their duty towards the nation. (i agree though that winning it in 2005 when u were considered as weak is an achievement). then u scousers destroyed it all at heysel! then its man utd who had to pick up the pieces in the face of strong italian domination at the time…and compund that with that stupid foreigners rule then u realise y fergie hasnt won more european cups. hypothetical question: would bob paisley have won 3 CL in our era with his style of management? i seriously doubt it.
@ade tell me something, is it ur style to try insult people who put arguments against u? lol u didnt have any argument to counter mine, thats y saying i should have been called alice is a veryyy strongg argument to deny mine!! lolll
18 titles! lol hope 4 u that in 20 yrs (if am still alive) i wont b hearing liv supporters still chant that number! remember 16snt quite far off 18….cheers and stop taking everything so personal, everyone has the right to an opinion.
July 4th, 2007 at 6:07
Liverpool was a SUPER CLUB before the 90’s but not any more! Since 1992 they have never won a premier league title. Since 1992 Man U have won the CL title once (99) nad won 9 Premier League titles. Since 1990, Liverpool have won only one CL title i.e. 2005. So 1-1 on CL and 9-0 in Premiership in the last 16 years. Who then, is the SUPER CLUB NOW!!!!
July 4th, 2007 at 9:31
You cant be a Super Club just because you have won your domestic league several times… Lyon just won for the 6 straight time… Are they are super club too??? NOPE.
Super club is about the BEST in Europe.. I am afraid Man U doesnt fall under this..
Sorry to bust your bubbles..
I agree we aint a super club either.. We need to win the league on a consistent basic to be one…. But 2 CL finals in 3 yrs… surely put us up there…
July 4th, 2007 at 9:49
2 totally contradictory statements:
“Super club is about the BEST in Europe.. I am afraid Man U doesnt fall under this.. ”
AND
“I agree we aint a super club either.. We need to win the league on a consistent basic to be one….”
SO WHICH IS IT?
Personally I think a Super Club is much more than that. You need to take annual income/trunover as well. If I’m not mistaken, then that is the most defining criteria.
July 4th, 2007 at 13:19
Clarification.. To be a Super club. You need to win your domestic and also win in Europe.
what you have done… Lyon is doing.. which is countless domestic titles… that doesnt make you a super club. You are a super club in england.. What liverpool did in the 70s and 80s and Madrid of the late 90s is super club standard.
Just bcos you beat reading, wigan, bolton dont make you a super club my friend,.
July 4th, 2007 at 13:22
During our dominance of English football, we also won in Europe 4 times… That is the standard of Super Clubs…
Madrid and AC Milan didnt the same. You cant win a CL in 68 and another in 99 and call yourself a super club… Sorry..
Win the CL 3 times in 5 yrs and u ll gain super club status…
July 4th, 2007 at 13:55
Sorry to continue with this tirade…
Funny how people always include these teams “reading, wigan, bolton…” but they never add Liverpool to it.
We beat you TWICE!!!
Even during the 2004/2005 season (remember that season – when you acheived your “superclub status” by winning the CL?) – we beat you TWICE!!! (together with reading wigan, bolton)
July 4th, 2007 at 14:19
IMO, I think the following is more definitive of what a Super Club is:
As a player, I would definitely consider these before making a move.

omg why such an argument over one comment made by heinze? he’s not even leaving man utd let alone for liverpool i mean why would they need him when theyv got riise?
big deal he didnt mention liverpool nor did he mention milan, inter, arsenal, lyon etc…
PS. Liverpool have made an interesting gamble in torres, apparently he is know to be very inconsistent in spain…. david villa is th real talent over there
July 4th, 2007 at 16:03
I though this thread was about a certain Argie ah well…
How do u define a ’super-club’ if Man U aren’t one and neither are Liverpool?! Barcelona didn’t win their league or the CL this yr, does that mean they’re not a super club too? Are there any ’super-clubs’ ?
History, prestige, success, world-wide recognition, wealth, stadium, fan base, surely these are the things that make up a so called ’super-club’, if they are then both Man U and Liverpool are surely in this category constantly and pretty much the only English teams currently who should be with maybe Arsenal and Chelski bouncing in and out.
As for Heinze if he is to leave and wants to stay in the premiership to play I can see his only option being going to Liverpool. If Man U want to sell I don’t think fans could begrudge his choice. I personally would prefer he stay or go to one of the big too in Spain (the most likely option).

ur all funny in ur definitions of super clubs…notice that i didnt use that term in my previous posts…i somehow agree with the hex red in his definition…both man u and liv qualify to be one…i wont b dishonest enuff to say that 2 CL finals in 3 yrs is not a good achievement, but was reaching the CL final last season liverpool’s main aim? at the start of the season people were tipping them as chelsea’s main title challengers, yet they didnt even challenge for the title. u cant claim to be europe’s best and a dominant force when u cant even win in ur own league, and yes, beat the likes of wigan, reading and newcastle. were u the second best team in europe last season?? were u even better than chelsea? u got to the final on penalties man!! man u beat u twice last season!! so can u legitimately claim that u were better than man u?? i wont claim man u was the best team in europe either..we were outplayed by milan (though i dont think we would have been have all our defenders been fit and playing)…and as i told u winning 4 in an era when nottingham forest and aston villa won it isnt that big an achievement.
and yeah dont talk as if SAF never won the CL…he did in glorious fashion in 1999…united were unbeaten and scored in all their games…u know despite we won only 2 we r the best supported club in the world…even more than real madrid! most of the greatest players ever in british football have worn the red shirt of manchester!!
also, if u really did witness some of liverpool’s title triumphs, u will remember that even u did have to beat the likes of watford and sheffied wednesday to win the title!!!

Liverpool scum can go to hell for all i care, the only reason torres joined such a shit team is that Man Utd didn’t want to pay such a high price for an overrated, underperforming, inconsistant spaniard that doesn’t score enough goals and doesn’t set any body up on acount of his selfishness, not to mention the fact that Man Utd are on the verge of signing a much better player (and younger too) player in Tevez, so you can take your rubbish team and fuck off back up the mersey because liverpool will never be as big as manchester united.

Little Dud, you are a prick!! Are you talking about Rooney in your statement above, because I dont think he set the goalscoring cahrts alight. You must also some kind of expert on football, as the likes of Cruyf, Rickyard, Cappello and even that arsehole Ferguson have come out and praised Torres for all the things you slag him for!! you should go for teh England job you dick!!
July 13th, 2007 at 8:06
Funnny… Man U didnt want to pay such an high price for an overated player…
But you paid £28M for veron? £18M for Carrick? and Torres is not worth £20M .. ? You are simple hilairious….
Are you a clown or you just lack the ability to think?
The reason Torres didnt go to Man U is simply bcos Liverpool is his preferred club…
Just as Slivertre, Evra, Vidic prefered Man U over liverpool…
Dont cry about it… It is part of life….

Makes me laugh with all these Man Utd fans thinking they are the ‘best’ team ever with loads of history blah blah.
Do realise that Liverpool has soul, all players from around the world who aren’t ruled by their bank accounts take pay cuts to join us… not because we can’t afford it but because they know they are joining a ‘family’ so to speak. Note alot of players that could have joined other clubs on more money but once Liverpool came in it that was that.
Christiano Ronaldo even wanted to join us!!! but Ged Houllier turned him down, big mistake yes…… but Ronaldo wanted it. You pay over rated muppets like Rio ‘the best defender in the world my arse’ Ferdinand wages he does not warrant (£110,000 – 120,000 p.w.?)
Anyway, Heinze wouldnt have a problem joining us im sure… Even Henry said we have the most amazing fans and they send shivers down his spine when in anthem… So Man Utd fans point your stupid comments at Man City, the club who will overtake you very soon. hahahahaha.

Your comment is anachronistic. Had you talked about pay cuts and budget buying and the like last season, I might have granted you that. Not now. Not when Hicks and Gillet themselves call Liverpool a franchise. You aren’t very different from us in that sense now. Stop being pretentious. Admit it. Don’t give me ‘family values’ and bollocks like that. How can players playing outside England have familial feelings for a club in England. Hell, let me not kid myself, no outside player would have that feeling even for United. They come to the EPL for 3 reasons:
1. Money
2. The challenge of playing in a tough league
3. And moving to one of the big 4, whoever shows sustained interest and convinces the player. And in some rare cases like Berbatov, who moved to Spurs.
Don’t trust players (the foreign ones) to develop a feeling of family before joining the club. They might after playing in the club for a while, but definitely not before.

Well, to be honest i can sort of see where you are coming from (about the foreigners). When you have fans such as Little Dud (see above) who makes comments like that then it makes you think that some people snipe at another club and its fans because they feel they have to (stereotyping).
Gab Heinze im sure would not have trouble in joining such a massive club as Liverpool even though he is a UTD player. Fernando Torres is a quality player and i feel in the current climate of ridiculous money transfers then he is set at the correct price.
Anyway, Liverpool always seem to vet their players and be sure they ‘want’ to join and alot of players have put the club before money… But, i will say…… If you get paid £45,000 per week when you was offered £55,000 elsewhere and you have C/L football then i suppose its not all bad after all !!!

Look at this from Hienze’s perspective, a player.
He receives a letter telling him to look for another team. He wants to stay in England and fight for titles that would also let him play in the Champions League. Where to go? Not Chelsea because they like Cashcole. Not Aresenal because they have a starter there too, although what a complainer he continues to be. How about Liverpool? They have problems at LB and some Argies for mates. Not a hard decision, except for those fans living in their angry past and red nose himself who resist. They do not care what is best for their players. They would rather hold onto their grievances! A sorry lot no matter who fits the shoe. Liverpool fan or Manc fan. Let go your childish anger and move on…
