Thank god for Giggs, I think I would have had a heart attack if it had stayed at 1-0 for much longer!

And RR don’t forget City took a MASSIVE beating 8-1 :)

United may have come through, but not without some help on the day. Wigan should have had a penalty after 21 minutes with the score still 0-0. Jason Koumas’s goal-bound shot hit Rio Ferdinand high on an arm as he was moving towards the ball to make a block. Inevitably enough, United were awarded a penalty of their own 12 minutes later. This time it was a good decision as Emerson Boyce made a clumsy attempt at a blocking tackle on Wayne Rooney. By contast, Steve Bennett’s decision, three minutes later, not to give Paul Scholes a second yellow card for pulling back Wilson Palacios was scandalously lenient. A player of lesser standing would have been sent off: this alone makes Bennett’s ducking of the issue an acme of poor refereeing. We often hear you need a bit of luck to win the league. United got some today.

What a cunt. It hit his shoulder, and he conveniently forgets the no call on scholes by bramble. Do all journos in the UK love chavski?

  13. colver says: Reply to this comment

Haha we even had the ref on our side! I do not know if it had been different if Scholes had been sent off and we’d not been given the penalty, but I reckon we’d have won it anyway! Fair play to Wigan for putting up a decent fight. And hahah Chelsea couldn’t even beat Birmingham

One win away from two doubles in less than ten years!

Today is a glorious day for me ! I’m over the moon !

I played my outdoor 5×5 match and of course we won 19-13 (2 hours) after I got hit and played like a very angry footballer that wanted to win. Scored 5 goals! GREAT!

Then I got my coffe with my friends. I watched the last 20 minutes of the match and I saw my favorite Giggs scoring the second goal and clearing the champion title for our team ! Exactly as I was wishing!

    Then a birthday party invitation!

God (yeah you exist) THANK YOU . I promise next morning I’ll be studying ! Plus I’ll try to save a dog that you created.

Two premier league titles in a row….we have our hold back on the league..a big two fingers up to Arsenal and Chelsea…you may have one the league a few times, but now it is back in the hands of its rightful holders!

    Lessons from the campaign:

A rock solid defence and Ronaldo’s goals were the cornerstone of our success. Ronaldo cannot be expected to score so many next season (but probably will anyway!) so we need to discover other sources of goals without sacrificing Ronaldo’s free role which seems to suit him so well.

I do not imagine there will be much change, with the exception of buying a third striker so that Ronaldo will not have to play as a striker, as well as giving us a bit more physical and aerial presence up front. I’d like to see a goal scoring central midfielder, or have more goals coming from the other wing (maybe from Nani?). Tevez’s goal return was good, but Rooney can do better next year.

Our defence is the best in the world, only conceding around 26 goals in one of the toughest leagues, and I don’t think we conceded many in Europe either. We need to find EVDS’s successor…Foster is the obvious choice depending on how much he develops. A right back would be nice if not essential as Brown fills that position nicely and Hargreaves and Simpson can deputise. Silvestre can cover left back but he is a bit injury prone so a bit of cover there might be nice

Really though the only outlay I can foresee this summer is a 10-15 million pound third striker, possibly a young talent or two for under 10 million, and maybe a cheap defender. No big signings, just reinforcements

  44. TinManUnited says: Reply to this comment

Just watching the celebration video again, I’m surprised Saha made it through without injury. Things are looking up. haha

Of all the days to miss the game due to work related stuff. I just got home and found out that United did the business today. What a massive relief and was I ever happy to see Chelsea get the ultimate stab by losing Terry and having Bolton tie the game. Well AV Grant you fucking pillock, I guess there is no reason to call for a playoff now you ass clown and pathetic excuse for a manager. And prepare to eat m90re humble pie in Moscow too. I am over the moon and I am now going to sit down and watch the game. UNITED FOR LIFE!

And how about that Giggsy. I love all the guys who jumped on the Giggs bandwagon today. Just last week they were calling for the legend to retire as he was shite. The fickle nature of football fanaticism.

  47. Red Ranter says: Reply to this comment

    [Grognard]
Regarding people jumping onto the Giggs bandwagon, I guess you ought to grant the fans that: today was a happy day so everything tends to get forgotten. For what it’s worth, much of the criticism towards Giggs has been right from a team point of view. He hasn’t had a good season. But I am sure everyone still recognises that he is a legend and will be so — shite form or not.

I see no fickleness here - just the poignancy of his goal on equalling Bobby Charlton’s record. Plus, Giggs came on as a sub much later today — apart from the goal it wasn’t much he did for anyone to feel vindicated.

That said, he’s been an outstanding servant for United, and he would always be a special player in every Red’s heart.

Grognard - about Giggsy: he has been truly terrible all season. Whether or not he should retire remains a point of debate, personally I’d like him to go on, but prefer that Fergie uses him more sparingly.

Fact is that the absolute majority of Giggs’ critics do love the player and would love nothing more than him to do well in his appearances, only the thing is that it was hard for us endure those recent horrendous performances given the fact that we all have fond memories of him shredding defenses…

The catchphrase being: “When Giggsy’s on fire, there’s no one better in the world”

Most probably we’ll never see that Giggs any more, but he can still come up with defense-splitting passes and good finishing in front of goal - which Park, for all his other attributes, doesn’t seem to possess.

By the way, if in dreamland the opportunity was there to obtain a 25 year old Giggs in exchange of the actual Ronaldo I would gladly accept the swop, such is my love for the our one and only no.11!

Now how about removing shirt no.11 when he retires??!! :D

  51. Nico QB says: Reply to this comment

Just my point RR, didn’t refresh my page for a long time so didn’t see your reply!

Btw is it me or have the Huntelaar rumours been building up lately?

And does anybody really knows how the player feels about the possibility to come play for United?

  52. Taron says: Reply to this comment

I agree with RR. Most of us were saying the same thing the whole season that Giggs should come as a sub, anyway don’t want to star argueing, because today is for celebrating. The game was carzy at last it’s over and we are on the top.

  54. Grognard says: Reply to this comment

RR; The fans are fickle but don’t get me wrong. That’s not only alright but it’s very normal. I myself have had many moments of fickleness attacking my soul. Scholes should go! Scholes should stay! Anderson belongs on the bench! Anderson should start. Rooney can’t finish! Rooney’s a God! That’s just a taste of my fickleness this season. I was just pointing a fickle finger at all the Giggsy critics out there who wrongfully buried him but who now praise him. I am proud to say that I was one of his backers through thick and thin because Giggs is simply a player of QULAITY. And yes he has had a poor season by his high standards. Lets face facts, he’s only good enough for 20 or 30 minutes a game as a reserve right now as well as the occasional spot start. But I for one would like to see him back for another season because he can make a contribution as a solid substitute as well, you can never underestimate his leadership on and off the pitch. Three cheers for Ryan Giggs!

  55. Grognard says: Reply to this comment

Well I finally watched the game on delay and I have to say that am just over the moon. Honestly, I felt more exhausted after this long season than the players. This has been a long and very pressure packed season with a lot of stress and nervousness. I now can let some of that nervousness go as half of the job is done. Watching the lads and Fergie celebrate literally put tears in my eyes. I was so happy for myself but I was elated for the lads and for Fergie. They so deserved it and they carried themselves like champions all season. I especially congratulate all the supporters on Red Rants. Like I said, it’s been a long season and many of us have spilled our blood and guts on this blog and many a heated debate has come from it. But one thing is for certain, we have all been on the same mission and fought for the same purpose. We all love and bleed Red Devil blood and give a damn about our team. Congratulations to all the supporters and contributors to the best football blog on the web and special thanks to Red Ranter for putting up with my shit and others along the way. Well done mate!. One down, and one more to go. Now it’s time to get nervous again and wait ten days for hopefully another dose of sheer ecstasy (the emotional type, not the drug). Man do I want Chelski to be served to us on a silver platter and skewered for a good old fashioned football feast. I don’t want to beat them, I want United to annihilate them. UNITED FOREVER!

No ratings today. Frankly speaking, I’m emotionally and physically exhausted and I also figure what’s the point. Everybody on the team except Louis Saha gets a 10/10. Hey! It wouldn’t be me if I didn’t piss off some people with my Saha dig. And finally to the pond scum known as Chelsea fans out there in Scumdon, I have just this to say; HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HEE! HEE! HEE! MANCHESTER UNITED BPL CHAMPIONS! Read it and weep. And a heartfelt good riddance to the Drogba.

    WE LOVE YOU GIGGSY!

United fans rocked Wigan yesterday, even though had to endure another Barca type nailbiter!. Congrats to Wigan fans, most of who stayed to celebrate with us for a while, and see the trophy being awarded. Also thru the match, they hid the many United fans who had bought up all Wigan fans tickets, and were being looked out for by stewards. At the end though, they all showed themselves, all over the ground during the celebrations. Not only that lol, but as some Wigan fans left, there was a rush thru the fire exits of incoming United fans who had been outside the ground waiting for their opportunity. The security let them in, because they realised they were not causing any trouble, just wanting to celebrate the trophy being given. God bless the Wigan Police!.

Ref Bennett, did ok by us this time, because he usually gives all decisions against us. But lets face it, who’d want to be a Ref, because whatever they do, it is not right for somebody. They are more maligned than feckin traffic wardens. Glory, glory Bolton too eh?. Though how Drogba missed the many sitters he had to score yesterday, I will never know!. Bolton did us proud though. So Chelsea, Wigan did ya, and so did Bolton. FIND IT TOUGH AGAINST NORTHERN TEAMS DON’T YOU CHELSKI HAHAHAHAHAHA!. Well done Av Grant though, before anything else in his post match comments, he congratulated Fergie and the team. That’s commendable dignity, which I don’t think we would have got from Whinger Wenger or Benni at the Pool. Salford reds were all celebrating well into the wee small hours, O what a happy, happy day. Hope it’s another in Moscow in 10 days time. WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS. Giggsy owes his goal to the fabulous Rooney insight and passing ability.

  64. Nico QB says: Reply to this comment

    raj k-

sorry, but giggs does not define consistency… As I said, on his day he can be the greatest player on earth, while he can also go through a string of underwhelming performances, and this even when he was still young.

Consistency incarnate would probably be Gaz Neville.
