Will Sanchez start? 4-3-3: Man Utd predicted XI to face Brighton

Manchester United went crashing out of the Champions League on Tuesday night at the hands of Sevilla, leaving the FA Cup as our main focus for the remainder of the season.

Jose Mourinho will be keen to win some silverware this season after winning three trophies in 2016-17, and with rivals Manchester City winning the Premier League and looking good in Europe.

Tomorrow evening we take on Brighton & Hove Albion at Old Trafford with an FA Cup semi-final place at stake.  We were 1-0 winners over Chris Hughton’s side in the Premier League back in November.

Here is the side I think Jose will put out:

Goalkeeper: Sergio Romero

Despite this being an important match I think Jose will stick with Sergio Romero as our cup goalkeeper.

Defence: Antonio Valencia, Eric Bailly, Victor Lindelof, Luke Shaw

There’s no reason why captain Antonio Valencia won’t start at right-back against the mid-table Premier League side this weekend.  Likewise Eric Bailly appears to be fully fit and capable of playing more than one game in a week.  Chris Smalling’s put in a couple of poor performances of late so I think we could see Victor Lindelof recalled to the starting XI.  Phil Jones, Daley Blind and Marcos Rojo all sidelined.  Ashley Young is due a rest and was one of the poor performers midweek so Luke Shaw should get a recall too.

Midfield: Nemanja Matic, Scott McTominay, Paul Pogba

Paul Pogba didn’t exactly make an impact after coming on as a substitute against Sevilla but the French star should start this one in a midfield three as we look to dominate possession and dictate play against the Seagulls.  Scott McTominay should return in place of Marouane Fellaini who looked tired before half-time midweek.  Ander Herrera is out injured.

Attack: Juan Mata, Romelu Lukaku, Alexis Sanchez

Alexis Sanchez has received a lot of criticism following our Champions League exit and that is backed up by scoring just one goal in his 10 games for us since joining from Arsenal.  I don’t see Jose Mourinho giving up on the Chilean superstar and I do expect him to face Brighton from the start.  Jesse Lingard started midweek so Juan Mata should be recalled to the right wing as Marcus Rashford didn’t perform well there last time out.  Anthony Martial is just back from a knock and available too.  Romelu Lukaku will keep his place up front and has scored winners for us in the previous rounds this season.
