Manchester United

2 confirmed to leave Man Utd this summer + 2 more who could follow

Ander Herrera and Antonio Valencia have both played their final game for Manchester United and will officially depart when their contracts expire at the end of June.

Long-time servant Valencia has not been offered a new contract after spending most of the season sidelined through injury. The club captain was brought on for the final 17 minutes of our 2-0 defeat at home to Cardiff City on Sunday to get a send off.

Meanwhile, Herrera doesn’t want to renew his contract at Old Trafford amid the opportunity to join French Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain this summer.

The squad could shrink further this summer as Juan Mata is in the final two months of his contract and has still yet to put pen to paper over a new deal. The 31-year-old was not a regular in the first team under Louis van Gaal, Jose Mourinho nor Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, so it seems unlikely that the Spanish playmaker will want to stay much longer.

However, the wages on offer at Manchester United could certainly be an attractive offer to the former-Chelsea player, given his age. It’s a case of seeing what other clubs will offer him over the coming weeks to see if we have a chance of keeping him on board.

The final first team player who is yet to extend his contract beyond this season is Andreas Pereira. The 23-year-old has been with us since 2011, initially joining our youth setup from PSV Eindhoven. However, he’s never held down a regular spot in our starting lineup despite successful loan spells at both Granada and Valencia in Spain. His six starts and nine substitute appearances this past season have been the most he has ever made for us in a single Premier League campaign.
