4-2-3-1: Man Utd predicted XI to face Brighton

Manchester United ideally need to win at the AMEX Stadium on Tuesday in order to maintain pressure on Chelsea and Leicester City in the race for the top four.

Chelsea’s surprise win over Manchester City last week saw them maintain their five point lead over us, one point behind Leicester. The Blues are away to West Ham United on Wednesday, whilst Brendan Rodgers’ side go to Everton the same evening.

It took 120 minutes for us to progress in our FA Cup quarter-final on Saturday but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer rang the changes so it shouldn’t hinder us when we face Brighton & Hove Albion this week.

Here is the team I think the boss will name:

Goalkeeper: David de Gea
The Spaniard was among the substitutes watching on as Sergio Romero was beaten from 25 yards over the weekend. David de Gea has had little to do in his two appearances since the restart and will hopefully have a quiet evening this week too.

Defence: Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire, Brandon Williams
Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Victor Lindelof were both rested at Norwich City so will return to the starting lineup to face the Seagulls. Harry Maguire played the full 120 minutes but he never seems to need a break. Luke Shaw played the entirety of the game too so I can see Brandon Williams coming in at left-back. The teenager did play an hour himself though.

Midfield: Nemanja Matic, Paul Pogba; Daniel James, Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford
Daniel James didn’t feature at the weekend so could come back into the starting lineup after a quiet game versus Tottenham Hotspur. Alternatively, Mason Greenwood could start down the right wing again. Bruno Fernandes looked tired on Saturday so I wouldn’t be surprised to see Paul Pogba play the number 10 role, though I think the Portuguese playmaker starts this one and gets rested over the weekend versus Bournemouth. Pogba should therefore start alongside Nemanja Matic in front of the back four. Marcus Rashford to start down the left.

Striker: Anthony Martial
Anthony Martial made an impact as a substitute in extra-time over the weekend and will return to the starting lineup for Tuesday’s game following his hat-trick against Sheffield United.

Here’s our XI on paper:
