Breaking: Update on Romelu Lukaku injury

Romelu Lukaku went down with a serious looking injury in the 7th minute of Manchester United’s game versus Southampton at Old Trafford this evening.

The Belgian striker was down for six-and-a-half minutes before he was stretchered off wearing an oxygen mask, and replaced by Marcus Rashford.

We are currently being held 0-0 by Mauricio Pellegrino’s side as we head into first half stoppage time.

News from the locker room is that the medics say the injury is not as serious as they first feared and that Lukaku will not be required to visit the hospital this evening.

Jose Mourinho started with both Rashford and Anthony Martial on the bench with Zlatan Ibrahimovic not in the matchday squad at all.  Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Juan Mata are currently flanking the substitute striker.

Neither side has caused either goalkeeper any problems yet with Wesley Hoedt and Jesse Lingard each missing the target with good headed chances inside the six-yard box for both sides.
