BVB chief issues Erling Haaland transfer warning to Man Utd

Borussia Dortmund chief Michael Zorc has played down speculation linking sought-after Erling Braut Haaland with a big-money summer move.

Arguably the most coveted youngster in Europe’s top-five leagues, Haaland has been a subject of wild transfer rumours over the past couple of months.

Real Madrid, Barcelona, Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City have forged a formidable chasing pack as they all hope to land the former RB Salzburg talisman.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is understood to be such a big admirer of his countryman that he is willing to overlook his eye-watering price tag to complete the move this summer.

With four Bundesliga fixtures left to play, BVB are four points adrift of fourth-placed Wolfsburg and face the risk of missing out on Champions League football next season.

Without the lure of Europe’s elite club competition as an incentive to keep Haaland on board, the Germans may have to offload their most prized asset in the upcoming transfer window.

Or not. Zorc is adamant the 20-year-old prodigy will remain at the Signal Iduna Park regardless of the outcome of Dortmund’s top-four bid.

Despite genuine interest in Haaland from a host of Europe’s top clubs, the 58-year-old believes the Norway international will remain in North Rhine-Westphalia past the summer.

“We have made our position clear on the Haaland case,” Zorc told Sky Sport, as relayed by the Metro.

“The decision will not be made without Borussia Dortmund. No matter where we end up, Erling will continue to play for us.”

The 1996/97 Champions League winners have slapped a staggering £155 million price tag on Haaland’s head, hoping it would ward off potential suitors.

With the Norway international’s contract running until 2024, Dortmund are unlikely to be in a hurry to lose his services this summer.
