Early Man Utd team news for Brighton game: One player returns

Manchester United host Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to maintain his 100% winning start as caretaker manager.

Our 1-0 victory at Wembley Stadium against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday saw the Norwegian extend his winning streak to six games, five of those in the Premier League.

David de Gea’s man of the match performance saw the Spaniard make 11 saves in the match to keep back-to-back clean sheets in the Premier League. Sergio Romero also kept a clean sheet the week before in our 2-0 win over Reading in the FA Cup.

Our central defensive partnership for our last three Premier League games has been Phil Jones and Victor Lindelof, with no other centre-back available during that period. Marcos Rojo remains injured whilst Chris Smalling has also missed our recent games through injury.

The boss will have a third option for the visit of Brighton this weekend as Eric Bailly is back from suspension. The Ivory Coast international was shown a straight red card during our 4-1 thrashing of Bournemouth at the end of December and subsequently handed a three-match suspension.

With the number of shots we allowed this past weekend it would not come as a surprise to see Bailly reinstated into our starting lineup on Saturday, likely to be alongside Victor Lindelof.

In further positive news, Alexis Sanchez could return to the squad this weekend as the Chilean was back in training this morning. It is now yet known whether the forward will indeed be available, but we can expect an update from the boss on Friday.
