‘Exciting signing’, some Man United fans react to possible first January purchase

A selection of Manchester United fans have expressed their excitement with the club close to announcing the signing of Bruno Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon.

The Red Devils have been negotiating the price tag for the midfielder over the past few weeks and an agreement has now been reached for an initial £47m, as per Goal.com.

There has been no official confirmation from United regarding the transfer agreement but some of the supporters are relieved and pleased with the club meeting the demands of Sporting.

Fernandes is scheduled to arrive for his medical at the Carrington base on Wednesday and he could be registered in time for the Premier League clash against Wolves before the mid-season break.

Meanwhile, United could make more than one signing before Friday’s transfer deadline and they are currently on the search for a new striker to cover up for the injury setback for Marcus Rashford.

As per RMC Sport, Islam Slimani has been identified as a possible target but the deal remains complicated with the player still on loan at Monaco from Leicester City while there is the competition from Tottenham Hotspur.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side will make the trip to the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night where they are scheduled to face Manchester City in the second leg of their League Cup semi-final.

United are trailing by a 3-1 scoreline after the home leg at Old Trafford. With no away-goal rule, the club need to at least level the aggregate score in normal time to take the tie to a penalty shoot-out.
