Is Suarez obsessed with United?

Reports today suggest that Luis Suarez will attend Thursday’s Europa League clash between Manchester United and Ajax at Old Trafford.

According to The People and the The Daily Mail, the Uruguayan striker – a former Ajax player – has accepted a ticket from a friend and will be in the stands watching his former team in three days time.

The news, if true, beggars belief. Can the man just stay away from any controversy? The answer, it seems, it’s no.

Following his eight-match ban for racially abusing Patrice Evra, Suarez returned to Old Trafford earlier this month causing yet more troubles by refusing to shake Evra’s hand prior to kick off before petulantly kicking the ball in the stands as the half time whistle went.

The Uruguayan’s behaviour brought Ferguson to label him “a disgrace” while Dalglish – at his bitter and senile best – defended his player.

Suarez and Dalglish have both apolgised since the incident, after being put under pressure by Liverpool’s board and by the FA and it’ll be interesting to see the position Liverpool Football Club will take on the issue.

You’d imagine that his club will advise him to watch the game on TV, as it’ll be pointless and irresponsible to reignite a fire that took so long to extinguish – if it has been extinguished at all.

Suarez, obviously, is a free man so, technically, nobody can impede him to watch his former club against United. But here lies the problem as far as Liverpool are concerned.

Should Suarez go on his own, without officially representing his club, it would mean that he will be treated like any other fans going into to the game and that – God forbid – should something happen, Liverpool would have no jurisdiction on the matter whatsoever.

One day, far away in the future, we’ll know what exactly goes through Luis Suarez’s mind.

I, for one, understand him. Watching Ajax is as close as he’ll get to European football this season.

“Don’t go out unless you’re red and white, I see there’s trouble on the way” has never sounded more appropriate.

@John: Liars and cheats never prosper. Correct, that’s why Suarez was banned.

You are another deluded Manc, thinking Evra has the sole right to honesty, wake up and smell the coffee Suarez was stitched like a kipper by Fergie, FA and Evra, , that is why world wide Suarez has won the moral high ground! He is a free man guilty of using a word used on many boxes i have in my warehouse to describe the colour Black, and none of my suppliers have been arrested yet! Leave the guy alone and let him travel freely until he shows you any disrespect, then judge by what you see with your own eyes, not a debateable Frenchman who was run ragged and fought back WITH THE RACE CARD, AND ps i AM BLACK!

@Silvefox: “world wide Suarez has won the moral high ground!”
You couldn’t make this up. Moral high ground? World WIDE? Yeah, if Uruguay entails the entire planet.

    • Daniele

      20 February 2012 at 21:39

@Silvefox: “Moral high ground”? You lot are so deluded that it’s frightening. Do you seriously believe that he’s considered a victim worldwide? Because if you do, you’re worse off than I thought.

@Silvefox: find it hard to believe you are black if you are …you are an idiot and disgrace to any blackman with any pride, dignity and intelligence. You ahve no concept of racism..i bet you are forlock tugging wannabe….and i am black born and bred. If you had read the report you would have known that even Suarez admitted to using racist language and was accepted by his own QC…

you are 100% correct. Whisky nose is aware the Liverpool have one of the best players in the PL and he is scared of losing ground in the coming years. Besides that lying cheat Evra changed his story so many times and even he said Suarez wan’t racist and don’t forget Suraez’s Grandfather is black you bunch of thick Mancs

this is another piece of irresponsible journalism that some could portray as promoting harm to Luis Suarez.
    This is no laughing matter.

Ye know what boring me to death get over it evra or GO HOME its ok evra saying ni**er so whats the problem. Gerard gets called scouse bas*ard, neville gets called manc bas*ard it happens but they get on with it. Iam scouse and if i moved to manchester and was getting called names because of where iam from i would get on with it or get the fu*k out SIMPLE its not my city and evra this is not your country.

    • Daniele

@kingkenny: people like you are a disgrace to society. Then again, with that sort of nickname i guess a bigot statement was the only thing we could expect. Based on your logic, Kenny Dalglish should fuck off away from Merseyside as he’s scottish, and so should Suarez.

@kingkenny: you are an idiot and have no concept about racism…. since when have you had political parties formed and vigilantes hunting you down based purely on your skin colour and nationality…dont talk about something you have never experienced and know fuck all about. I am old enough to remember being chased by the SPG and being called all sorts of racist names and so have many of my friends who grew up in the midlands in 70s and 80s….and if you wnat to know who the SPG were look it up…they were a big cause of the riots in the early in the 80s…so come back and talk to me about racism when you have been through that shit!!!

As far as Suarez is concerned, he’s done nothing wrong so why shouldn’t he attend?

At some point, perception will shift. Is Suarez really a troll who would racially abuse somebody, snub his handshake and then show up at his gaff two weeks later? Or is he a man who, despite press reports to the contrary, remains innocent due to complete lack of evidence?

    • Daniele

      20 February 2012 at 21:51

he’s really a troll. Like all you muppets showing up on a United website. Bit obsessed, are we? Jog on. 19

@Joe: as far as he is concerned maybe…but we all know Sewerats word cannot be trusted after humiliating his manager.. (who by the way gave him unequivocal support)in front of a world wide audience. I actually felt sorry for KD I believe he genuinely thought ol buck tooth was a man of his word….In my mind that cast even more doubt on his testimony is it any wonder the case went against him…

      • Joe

        21 February 2012 at 00:55

@Lloyd: Lloyd, you make a fallacious point but at least you aren’t hopelessly stupid like Daniele.

It doesn’t matter whether Suarez “is a man of his word” or not. That doesn’t make him guilty of racial abuse and as long as it remains unproven, there is a danger for Manchester United, Ferguson and Evra that the pendulum could swing.

All Suarez has to do is haunt you. It doesn’t matter whether he turns up on Thursday or not – the Ajax supporters will sing his name in your stadium anyway. And I wouldn’t be surprised to hear a few boos for Evra too. Those who want to believe Suarez is guilty always will. But for everybody else, it’s just another little reason to doubt.

Do you know the real reason why Fergie did not play Evra against Ajax – because he got wind that the whole of the Ajax side were going to refuse to shake Evra’s hand! How embarrassing would that have been to Fergie, United and the FA not to mention Evra because Ajax has many black players!! Moral high ground sorted for Suarez!!!

Now, my Mancurian friends, there is a saying that what goes around comes around. You truly seem obsessed with our man Luis. And it’s not because he’s a racist,I think you know that. He’s probably less of a racist than most of you guys here (What? Me racist?). It’s because he’s a damn good footballer, he’s ours and he never walks alone. Admitting it makes it feel better. Try… YNWA Sinius

You had a pure footballing genius called Eric Cantona in your ranks. Didn’t like the man, but the player. Did you drop him like a wet sock when he attacked a fan?

I’m gonna be totally honest. I despise Suarez. I despise Rasicm. And I despite every pathetic excuse for a human being that stands behind him. The man is a joke, a total knobhead who just doesn’t seem to understand how it works. He plays for Liverpool, a club with a great history and despite all our rivalery, a very respectful past. The team is legendary, and deserves credit not only for the trophies they have won, but everything that has gone on behind the clubs’ walls since the first day it breathed fresh air. He is ruining everything Liverpool stand for, the entire spine of the club, and the people who still support him are doing the same. They are ruining Liverpool Football Club, and it’s honor. That fact that none of you guys don’t see it just tells me how much you love, or worship your club. I’ve seen many Liverpool fans who dislike Suarez after all this, and those I respect. They know what their club stands for, its history and its pride. You guys disrespect your club, and that for me says it all about what kind of pathetic and damaged people you are.

    • Omar Brown

      22 February 2012 at 13:49

Fair comment. I think what some Liverpool fans are clinging onto is the hope that Luis Suarez is innocent, if this was the case then it would be understandable that he would resent the man who has smeared his name. I must say there is a small part of me who wants to believe that. But this just doesn’t stand up for me, because it would require Patrice Evra to be completely deranged. As far as I’m aware him and Luis have no previous history so why would he decide to completely destroy another persons reputation just for the sake of it? It would be an incredible lie. Misleading the club over the handshake did not aid his credibility. Asides from Suarez I have been disappointed by the clubs stance on the whole matter. I am all for supporting a player until found guility but the nature in which we have done so has been poor. Overly aggressive on what is a sensitive issue. Attacking Evra’s credibility was a mistake.

This has not been the Liverpool way. Support the player until found guilty, yes. But in a dignified way. The overiding issue of racism is too important for it to be treated so carelessly.

However, United fans should not see this as a one up on Liverpool. It seems some do. Some seem to be enjoying what Liverpool is going through. That to me is making light of a more important issue.

I am hoping Liverpool move on from this. It is a great club which does much good for its community and beyond, lets not let one players actions cause us to forget that. Condemn his actions but then move on.

But on the Ajax matter, it is ridiculous that whoever wrote this article even considers that to be an issue.
