Jose confirms 2 players who will feature in Champions League midweek

Manchester United are away to Valencia in our final Champions League group stage game on Wednesday night.

We have already qualified ahead of our trip to Spain and being two points behind Juventus it is very unlikely that we will win the group.

With a trip to Liverpool next Sunday in the Premier League, Jose Mourinho is widely-expected to rotate his squad against the La Liga outfit.

The boss confirmed on Saturday that Paul Pogba will start at the Mestalla midweek. The 2018 World Cup winner was an unused substitute in our4-1 thrashing of Fulham on Saturday and only played the final 17 minutes in our 2-2 draw at home to Arsenal prior to that.

When speaking about Paul Pogba, Jose told MUTV:

“Against Valencia, he is going to start.

“Against Valencia, he is going to have a fantastic football game to play and to show everybody how good he is.”

Paul Pogba has played a key role in helping us reach the second round of these season’s tournament, notably a brace in our 3-0 win at Young Boys that started the group.

However, Jose went on to suggest that the French international has not been up for the Premier League games. He continued:

“He has to play with the same mentality as the team is playing. Paul can be a fantastic player. He has the potential to be a fantastic player.”

Paul Pogba is not the only player that the Portuguese coach has confirmed will feature in Spain. Speaking after our win on Saturday, Jose also said that Andreas Pereira will get playing time:

“If I say a kid that is working every day like a tiger and is not playing much like Andreas Pereira is going to have a start, I’m going to make changes in the team, because we managed to qualify.”

We can only win the group should we beat Valencia and Juventus fail to beat bottom of the group Young Boys.
