Manchester United thrashed Fulham 4-1 at Old Trafford on Saturday to record our first win in five Premier League games.
Ashley Young (13′), Juan Mata (28′) and Romelu Lukaku (42′) put the game to bed before half-time before Marcus Rashford restored our three-goal lead in the final 10 minutes after the visitors had scored a consolation midway through the second half.
Victories for Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea on Saturday mean we remain eight points off the top four before we go to Anfield next Sunday.
Juan Mata scored the 50th Premier League goal of his career and later recorded his 50th assist in the same game versus Fulham on Saturday.
The Spaniard was ace during the 90 minutes in what was only Mata’s seventh Premier League start of the season.
Speaking after the game, Jose Mourinho was full of praise for the playmaker, saying that the 30-year-old fights for the team with every opportunity he is given. Jose told MUTV:
“Juan is Juan. The quality, the brain, they are always there. An honest man, a club man. When he plays, he plays for the team. When he doesn’t play, he still fights for the team. He’s one of these guys that we all respect and we all know that Juan is Juan. That is the best way to describe him.”
Along with his fellow countryman Ander Herrera, Juan Mata’s contract is due to expire at Old Trafford over the summer.
