Man Utd closing in on first summer signing

Manchester United are set for a busy summer transfer window with several players expected to go in opposite directions.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was handed a three-and-a-half year contract back in March so the boss can be expected to be given a good transfer budget this summer, his first transfer window.

It appears that one player is already set to sign at Old Trafford as the Evening Standard are reporting that we are closing in on a deal for Swansea City forward Daniel James.

The 21-year-old is coming off a breakthrough season in the Championship, though he only scored four goals in 33 league appearances (28 starts), adding a further seven assists.

What makes it even more interesting is that James is predominantly a left forward – the one position we have the most depth, with Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Alexis Sanchez all being deployed there over the duration of the season.

Daniel James is rapid down the left wing and has scored a couple of good goals in the second tier this season but one would have to think that if we sign him this summer that he would be loaned out to a Championship side immediately.

The Evening Standard report that we could be signing the player for £15-20 million plus add-ons.
