Man Utd handed injury boost before Brighton game

Manchester United kicked off the 2018-19 Premier League season with a 2-1 win over Leicester City on Friday night.

Last week’s squad saw a number of absentees due to injuries and a lack of break since the World Cup in Russia.

With more than a full week off for the team to get back in shape, we are set to travel to the south coast to take on Brighton & Hove Albion at the AMEX Stadium this Sunday.

One player who missed our season opener was summer signing Diogo Dalot. And the Portuguese under-21 international could have come in hand, given that Antonio Valencia is injured, so Matteo Darmian had to fill in at right-back.

The 19-year-old isn’t far away from making his debut now though as he is set to return to full training later this week, according to the Metro.

Dalot joined us in a £19 million deal from FC Porto over the summer but arrived with a knee injury picked up back in May.

The teenager has since been recovering from surgery and the report claims that our coach staff have been impressed by the full-back’s fitness levels in recent days. He has been given the go-ahead to step up from light training to full first team training this week.

No return date has been set for Antonio Valencia’s calf injury so Diogo Dalot could be handed his Manchester United debut as soon as he is fully fit again.
