Man Utd may have found £40m ready-made replacement for Nemanja Matic

Nemanja Matic has just finished a tough season at Manchester United and many fellow supporters want the 30-year-old out of Old Trafford this summer.

The former Premier League winner looks a shadow of the player we signed two years ago and struggled to break up the opposition play in the way that Fernandinho does for Manchester City, Fabinho for Liverpool, N’Golo Kante does for Chelsea etc.

Given the importance of the position it is vital that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the Manchester United hierarchy upgrade in this position before the start of our 2019-20 campaign.

It appears the boss already has his eyes on a proven holding midfielder as we are being linked with a £40 million move for Everton’s Idrissa Gueye. The 29-year-old continues to show a lot more energy and tenacity in the middle of the park for the Toffees than what we get from Matic.

Gueye has spent the past three seasons at Goodison Park following his move from Aston Villa, so he knows all about the Premier League. Given his age, £40 million wouldn’t be too overpriced with the energy and strength he has to offer. We will be desperate to finish in the top four next season and he would no doubt go a long way towards helping us reach that if we were able to sign him.

He has realistically achieved all he can on Merseyside and we have had successful negotiations in the past with Everton, with players going in both directions. so there’s no reason why we can’t do another deal this summer.

The Daily Star even claim that Everton have accepted that their £40 million-rated player wants to leave this summer, which is a big boost to our chances of signing him, should we pursuit.
