Manchester United travel to North London to take on Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in this Saturday’s evening Premier League kickoff.
We start the weekend eight points behind Premier League leaders Manchester City after their 96th minute winner against Southampton on Wednesday night.
The Gunners were handsome 5-0 winners over Huddersfield Town on the same night, 24 hours after we won 4-2 at Watford.
Arsenal are currently fourth in the Premier League, four points behind us and only two ahead of Liverpool below them.
During our win at Vicarage Road on Tuesday night, Nemanja Matic limped off with a leg muscle problem less than 10 minutes into the second half.
According to the Daily Star the 29-year-old will undergo intensive treatment between now and setting off for London.
The report adds that Jose Mourinho is not confident that Matic will be fit enough to face Arsenal this weekend.
We could already be without Marouane Fellaini whilst Michael Carrick is confirmed to miss the game at the Emirates. Should Matic also be absent Mourinho will have a choice of Ander Herrera and Scott McTominay to partner Paul Pogba in the centre of our midfield. Herrera came on for Matic at Watford.
Following this weekend’s game we host CSKA Moscow in our final Champions League group stage game on Tuesday before the Manchester derby on Sunday 10 December. Whilst we don’t want Nemanja Matic missing for Arsenal it would be an even bigger blow if he were to miss the visit of Manchester City next month.
