Manchester United are expected to be heavily involved in the transfer market this summer with the 1st full season of manager Ole Gunnar Solksjaer coming to an end. With the club in the market for a new winger and the talks between United and Borussia Dortmund for Jadon Sancho stalling, sensational reports out of Italy claim that Manchester United have expressed an interest in AC Milan Winger Hakan Calhanoglu.
Calhanoglu joined AC Milan in 2017 but is out of contract next summer. Therefore, the Serie A side has to make a decision about his future soon.
According to Tuttomercatoweb, talks over a new contract with Calhanoglu have “stalled” – prompting interest from several sides in the Premier League.
Manchester United are one of those and have made a call to ask about the Turkey international. Attracted by his low asking price, United have put him in their “notebook” of potential targets.
Primarily playing as an Attacking midfielder for AC Milan, Calhanoglu can also shift to the wing which would be a bonus for United.
With the COVID-19 pandemic affecting the financial situation of the club, the low-cost transfer of Hakan Calhanoglu would appeal to Manchester United as an alternative if the proposed €120m Jadon Sancho move falls through.
