Manchester United considering a cheap €20m deal for €50m valued player

Todofichajes report that Manchester United are keen on signing Christian Eriksen in January. Reputed British media outlet BBC has also confirmed the same story.

The Serie A side wants €20m for the superstar, with Eriksen’s former club Tottenham Hotspur are also keeping tabs on the situation. As per Transfermarkt, Eriksen is valued at €50m, but he will be a lot cheaper considering his Inter sojourn has not been a success.

His promising career has taken a hit. He’s no longer a starter in Antonio Conte’s XI. In six Serie A appearances this season, he clocked a mere 216 minutes and is yet to score a goal so far this season.

When asked about Eriksen’s future, Inter CEO Giuseppe Marotta said:

“If he’ll not play until January, it’s almost sure that he’ll ask to leave the club. We decided to sign him from Spurs one year ago for €20m, it was a good deal – possible he’s not fit with our way of playing”

United have a long-standing interest in Eriksen. He’s been previously linked with a move to Old Trafford before he joined Inter.

United should definitely try to explore the possibilities of this transfer. Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard’s contracts expire in less than seven months, and neither are considered more than just backups. United need replacements. Eriksen is a proven Premier League talent and €20m fee for him is an absolute bargain.
