Manchester United preparing a deal for €30m Monaco center-back

It is not a secret that Manchester United are in hunt for defensive reinforcements as Phil Jones, Marco Rojo and Chris Smalling are set to leave the club. It leaves Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire, Eric Bailly and Axel Tuanzebe as remaining options. Amongst them, Bailly and Tuanzebe are unreliable due to fitness issues.

United have shown significant interest in the Monaco teenager, Benoit Badiashile. However, Bayer Leverkusen seems to be in advanced talks with the French side to sign the center-back for a fee of €25 million.

The French outlet, Foot Mercato has recently revealed that the offer made by the German club has been turned down by Monaco. The Ligue 1 side have demanded a sum of €30 million if they are to sell their defensive prodigy this summer.

Manchester United along with the Spanish champions, Real Madrid have shown a considerable amount of interest in signing the 19-year-old Frenchman.

The teenager hails from the roots of Monaco’s youth side and has already made 46 first-team appearances since his debut back in November 2018. He is fearless young defender with good distribution skills and a desire to win every challenge.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is in the market for defensive recruitments and Badiashile has emerged as one of the brightest young defenders across the top European leagues.

It wouldn’t be improbable to claim that Badiashile could link up with Tuanzebe to form the Red’s future center-half pairing.

It is yet to be seen whether Leverkusen will respond to the request put forward by the French side or whether another club along the likes of Manchester United and Real Madrid will swoop in and close the deal.
