Manchester United has always been considered one of the best clubs, not just in Europe, but in the world. During the peak Fergie era, the club was landing trophies at a high rate. They are England’s most successful club in recent history.

When he took over, Fergie said that he plans to take Liverpool off the throne as the most decorated club in England. Nobody believed him then. By the time he retired, United knocked Liverpool off the number 1 spot, and they became the most decorated club ever. Of course, Fergie was not alone in this victory. Many players helped him win trophies throughout the years.

The last couple of years have not been that great, though. Manchester United has been struggling, even with the newly appointed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. But, the manager is confident that he can bring the club back on the right track.

2019/2020 Season by the Numbers

Even though Manchester United did not have the best start of the season, the club may very well surprise the fans in the future. There are a lot of people that are willing to turn the surprise factor into a profit.

With that being said, let’s have a look at the numbers. Firstly, United odds for winning the Premier League are 100/1. That is mainly due to the poor performance from last season. Some of the club’s players are included in the top goalscorer list. Marcus Rashford, for example, has a 28/1 chance to be the leading scorer this season. Martial is also on the list, and his odds are 40/1.

Numerous online bookies have been offering tremendous promotions and bonuses for all types of bets, especially to new players on their platforms. If you are feeling that United are not that likely to win the league, there are other promotions offered by the bookies.

Manchester’s chances to finish in the top 4 are 6/4. As far as the top 6 finish odds are going, the club’s odds are 1/3. Their odds to win multiple trophies, for example, EL and EFL are 55/1. But since they are characterized as one of the clubs that are not in their best form, the odds of winning no trophy are 1/6. Solskajer’s odds to leave the manager post are 9/1 as well.

Some bad decisions lead to the bad form that United has recently. But, every club has its ups and downs. There were some bad transfers throughout the years, but there were some key players that helped United win many titles.

Worst Signings

We start with some of the players that did not manage to find their way in the club. Whether it was bad form, or they were just overrated, some players couldn’t fit in the club.

Alexis Sanchez

Probably the worst business in football history. United bought Sanchez from Arsenal as one of the best attackers in the league, but he failed to live up to the standards. He earned $400,000 per week and managed to score just 4 goals. Ole loaned him to Inter, but the bad thing is, the club is still paying a major portion of his weekly earnings. There are some rumours that Solskjaer found a decent replacement for him, though.

Anderson

Anderson was one of the most promising Brazilian talents at Manchester United. The club paid $30 million to Fiorentina in 2007, but Anderson just couldn’t fit in. He played 181 games before he went to Internacional as a free agent in 2015.

Ashley Young

United’s captain is miles away from the expectations at the club. Hopes were high for him, as he was labelled as one of the best right-backs in the league, but he failed to show his true potential. He joined Manchester in 2011 and has been displaying average playing style in recent years.

Best Signings

David De Gea

David De Gea is one of the best goalkeepers in the newer era. He signed for Manchester United back in 2011. Since then, he defended the goal on 366 occasions and managed to get a clean sheet 129 times. He is truly one of the greats.

Wayne Rooney

One of the best players in Manchester and in England. During his prime, Wayne Rooney was an unstoppable force. He was a deadly attacker who used every opportunity to score a goal. He left Manchester in 2017, and during his time in the club, he became the top goalscorer in the club’s history with 253 goals.

Cristiano Ronaldo

The GOAT. The best player ever to wear the Red Devils jersey. Ronaldo was discovered by Fergie, after a friendly with Sporting, in which he obliterated United’s defence. Shortly after the game, Fergie brought him to the club and helped him become what he is today.
