Manchester United are monitoring Villarreal center-back Pau Torres.
According to ESPN, United have added Torres to a list which also comprises of fellow La Liga defender Jules Kounde.
Pau Torres has been a rock at the back for Villarreal. The Yellow Submarines are knocking at the doors of the Spanish elite and Torres is a crucial part of their side.
United were interested in the Spanish defender in the summer. They also talked to his agent about a potential move.
The 23-year-old Torres enjoyed a spectacular 2019/20 campaign in La Liga, helping the Yellow Submarine to a fifth-place finish. The center-back was easily one of the best in his position in the Spanish top flight in the season gone by.
United need a new defender at the centre of their defence.
The Red Devils have been leaking goals at an alarming pace. They have already conceded 11 goals in 3 league matches this season, including a 6-1 drubbing at the hands of Tottenham Hotspurs.
The defense looks shaky. There is a need for a calm and composed defender who can take charge.
That can be Pau Torres.
He is 23 – which fits perfectly with OGS’ youth-oriented policies at Manchester United.
Pau Torres is contracted to Villarreal till 2024 but has a release clause worth £45 million in his contract.
