Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani has posted a cryptic message on his Instagram page which has intensified speculation about his future.
Cavani signed a one-year contract with the Red Devils last summer which is set to expire this summer.
The image had a caption that read,”Lo único que sé es q daré el máximo”.
In English this means, “The only thing I know is that I will give my best.”
The United’s supporters commented on his post, urging him to remain at the club.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has admitted in previous interviews that Cavani is yet to take a call on his future.
His comments hinted that the former Paris Saint-Germain star might not be interested in extending his stay in England.
He said: “For a new lad who doesn’t speak English and not having his family over here, of course, it’s in the back of his head [returning to South America].
“If he decides it’s just the season then we’d be very happy to have had him here.
“It’s no secret we want to keep him. I don’t think it’s any secret too that this has been a difficult year for everyone.
“With the pandemic, it’s not been possible to have friends over, family over without quarantine. You can’t travel.”
Cavani has been extremely influential for the Red Devils. He has bagged 10 goals in all competitions, with only Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes notching more this term.
His Instagram post does give a strong signal that he may prefer to leave Old Trafford this summer.
Even if he takes that decision, United fans will be grateful to the El Matador for providing them with an enjoyable season.
