Manchester United Team News: McTominay, Wan-Bissaka to miss Everton clash

After a sensational 6-2 win over historic rivals, Leeds United on Sunday, Manchester United will shift their focus to their second meeting of the season with Everton. Both the teams will look to cement a place in the English Football league semifinal when they clash at Goodison Park on Wednesday.

United had faced the Toffees in the Premier League clash at the same venue last month in which a brace from Bruno Fernandes and a late goal from Edinson Cavani had helped United come back from 1-0 down to pick up a 3-1 win. But this time, though, things might turn out to be a bit different as United will be missing a few key players, including the hero of the Leeds win, Scott McTominay.

The midfielder was seen in pain due to a groin injury in the final few minutes of the game against Leeds, and speaking to reporters ahead of the Everton clash, the United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ruled out the Scottish, along with right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who suffered a niggle after going for a tackle in the same game.

“Those two will miss the game against Everton definitely,” Solskjaer told MUTV. “Hopefully, it won’t be too long. They’ll be out but, apart from that, I think everyone is, more or less, okay.”

United are set up for a busy Christmas weekend with a trip to Leicester on Boxing Day, and hence it comes as a little surprise that there will be making a few changes in the line-up against Everton on Wednesday.

“We will make a few changes,” Solksjaer confirmed. He further added that players who were impressive in the team’s win in EFL over Luton Town and Brighton could make a return, indicating that Eric Bailly, Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata could see themselves getting a game.

“There have been a few players playing in the Carabao Cup earlier in the season and some will need a rest after the Leeds game. So it will be a fresh team,” Solskjkaer said.
