Transfer Rumours

Manchester United to opt-out of Alex Telles deal as transfer deadline day approaches

As per the Telegraph, Manchester United are expected to drop out of the Alex Telles deal.

It is suggested that Porto are asking for £18m or more for the 27-year-old who is in his final year of contract. United offered a little more than half of £18m but Porto are demanding more for one of their star players.

Telles had 25 goal involvements last season for the Portuguese club and is an integral part of the team.

From United’s point of view, the Red Devils could sign him for free after agreeing a pre-contract with him after 90 days. It is a shrewd tactic but United are not in a position to negotiate after failing to sign so many players.

Previously, the club has failed to secure services of Ben Chilwell and Sergio Reguilon in the left-back department. Chilwell and Reguilon went on to join rival clubs Chelsea and Spurs later on.

United’s failure to pay the asking price for their #1 target Jadon Sancho is another example.
