Midfielder set to leave Man Utd on free transfer

Manchester United are set to travel to Brighton & Hove Albion for Premier League action on Tuesday evening.

We start the game five points behind Chelsea in the race for Champions League football, coming off the back of our extra-time FA Cup quarter-final win at Norwich City on Saturday.

Hosts Brighton have been very good since the restart – beating Arsenal 2-1 and holding Leicester City to a 0-0 draw at the King Power Stadium.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has spoken to the media this morning in his pre-match press conference, confirming he has a virtually fully fit squad to choose from at the AMEX Stadium.

One player who has yet to feature since the restart however is Angel Gomes. And the highly-rated midfielder appears to have played his final game for Manchester United.

That’s because the teenager’s contract expires later this week and Solskjaer was able to confirm this morning that the two parties have not been able to come to an agreement over a new deal.

The update on MUTV states:

“The young midfielder is still under contract until 1 July (Wednesday) and available to play, although Ole admitted to reporters that it appears likely that a new deal will not be agreed.”

This means Angel Gomes is set to depart on a free transfer and sign for a new team for no transfer fee.

We previously reported that the talented youngster wanted more first-team opportunities at Manchester United in order to stay.
