Newcastle to face backlash from United after Swansea draw

Man Utd performed well below their best in their 1-1 draw at Swansea, Sir Alex is sure to have read them the riot act and a backlash can be expected when they face Newcastle on Boxing Day.

United are 1.25 with Boylesports to beat Newcastle in their Boxing Day clash at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils performed well below their best in their 1-1 draw at Swansea on Sunday, and Sir Alex is sure to have read them the riot act after that game.

A backlash can be expected and in a game in which they traditionally do well Newcastle look likely to feel the full force.

Indeed, United have not lost at home to the Magpies in the league since 1971/72 and the last time they met back in October at St James’ ran out easy 3-0 winners.

A similar scoreline, or bigger, could be on the cards in this as Newcastle have been a shadow of their former selves this season and have won just 5 of their 18 games.

All of those wins have come at home, and they have been beaten on the road by the likes of Southampton and Fulham.

By stark contrast, United have lost just three games all season and had been banging in goals for fun prior to their first draw of the campaign against Reading.

Everything suggests a comfortable win for United, so who will fire them on their way to the expected victory?

Wayne Rooney was out of form against Reading and it will be interesting to see if he is in the starting XI. If he is then the 5 on offer about him with bet365 and Betfred in the first goalscorer market could be a bit of value as Wazza is the type of player who likes to bounce back quickly and prove a point.

Hernandez looked sharp when he came on in Sunday’s game and c an also be backed at 5 with bet365 in the same market.

However my money is once gain going to be on Robin van Persie who was unlucky not to score when hitting the bar against Reading and looks massively overpriced at 4 with bet365 to net the opener given that he is as short as 2.75 with one firm to do so.

I think there will be plenty of goals in this, and over 2.5 looks a solid odds-on shot at 1.44 with Boylesports.

United to win 4-0 or 4-1 are my idea of the outcome, and those scorelines can be backed at 12 and 17 respectively with bet365 and Coral.
