Ole excited by Rashford & Martial combination

Manchester United ran out 2-0 winners away to Crystal Palace on Thursday night.

Victory moved us level on points again with Leicester City in fourth and one point behind Chelsea directly above them, each with two games to go.

Marcus Rashford opened the scoring with a composed effort shortly before half-time before Anthony Martial scored a fine solo effort in the final 15 minutes to kill the game off.

Crystal Palace had had a goal correctly overturned by VAR for offside at 1-0.

Speaking after the game, Ole Gunnar Solksjaer had the following to say about Rashford and Martial to MUTV:

“The goals with Marcus and Anthony were just a joy to watch. The goals were great and we know they can do that at any moment. It’s exciting to watch, it’s exciting to coach, it’s exciting to see them want to be better, want to improve – so it’s great. We’ve created chances, scored more goals. We last the game, so you can see towards the end we’re fitter and stronger. The last 20, 25 minutes were the best ones for us – before then it took some time to get going, but I’m very happy.”

Both have flourished under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this season, each scoring 17 Premier League goals, splitting time as a striker or left winger.

Since the restart, Anthony Martial has been leading the line and Marcus Rashford down the left wing.

The addition of Bruno Fernandes at the end of January has been a huge asset, with the Portuguese superstar pulling the strings behind these two.

Manchester United face Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-finals at Wembley Stadium on Sunday before taking on West Ham United on Wednesday 22 July in our penultimate Premier League match.
