Ole gives injury update on Luke Shaw

Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw left the field during our 2-0 pre-season friendly win over Perth Glory earlier today.

Marcus Rashford and James Garner scored our goals in the second half as the boss gave 23 players a run out in total, including new signings Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

The only downside of today’s game was Luke Straw’s withdrawal after the England international was on the receiving end of a strong challenge.

Speaking after the game, Ole told MUTV that Luke Shaw felt a problem with his hamstring and so the 24-year-old was not to be risked any further. Ole said:

“Luke he felt his hamstring was a little bit tight, so there was no point taking any more risk. You saw him still after he made a signal that he wanted to come off, he still kept on running, so it’s not a bad one I think. It was just a precaution. We’ve been working hard and he felt some tightness there, so we’ll have to assess him and probably rest him for a few days.”

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s words would suggest that Luke Shaw will not face Leeds United in our second match on the Australian Tour this Wednesday. Ashley Young had started the first half at left-back on Saturday, whilst James Garner replaced Shaw for the final seven minutes.
