Ole gives update on Herrera

Ander Herrera could make his return for Manchester United for the fixtures against Manchester City and Chelsea later this month.

This news has been announced by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer during his pre-match press conference ahead of tomorrow’s Premier League game against West Ham United at Old Trafford.

Herrera has been absent since our 2-1 win over Watford on 30 March in which he was substituted just after the hour mark. As per a contribution we placed on United Ramble, we have been missing the former Athletic Bilbao man in the middle of the park.

Ole is hopeful that the Spaniard will be ready to return to the starting lineup to face Manchester City on Wednesday 25 April, or Chelsea at the latest, on Sunday 28 April. The boss told MUTV:

“He’s been working really hard to get fit from his injury that he sustained against Liverpool.

“Then he came back and he got a different one here in training, because he’s been really putting a lot of work in.

”Unfortunately, that’s come at a time where there are contract talks, but that’s ongoing, so I can’t really comment too much on how far they’ve come down the line and what he’s deciding.”

Manchester United host West Ham in Saturday’s evening kickoff before we travel to Barcelona on Tuesday for the second leg of our Champions League quarter-final having lost the first leg 1-0 earlier this week.
