Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirms three players to start against Astana

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has named three players, who are expected to feature during the Europa League opener against Astana on Thursday night. The Red Devils returned to winning ways after three games last weekend as they secured a 1-0 triumph over Leicester City at Old Trafford.

With the congested schedule ahead, Solskjaer is bound to rotate his squad through the different competitions and speaking before the Astana game, the Norwegian has confirmed that Sergio Romero, Axel Tuanzebe and Mason Greenwood are set to be handed with starts against the Kazakhstan champions.

Romero has rarely got the nod over David de Gea in goal for the Red Devils but the Argentine has been offered the chance to impress in the Europa League, where he has an excellent record having previously helped the club win the competition in 2017.

Tuanzebe, on the other hand, has been ignored during the opening stages of the campaign despite the fact that he was one of the standout defenders during pre-season. The youngster is capable of featuring in both the central defensive and right-back positions, but he should feature in the former of those roles.

Elsewhere, Greenwood could lead the line against Astana with Marcus Rashford likely to drop to the bench with the view to the weekend league game at West Ham United. Solskjaer has resisted the prospect of starting the teenager this term but he may kick-off against Astana in his preferred role upfront.
