Three players Manchester United should sell this summer

Manchester United are heading into one of their most crucial transfer windows this summer.

After another season without silverware, the Red Devils’ squad is in need of some improvements.

However, there are also likely to be some high profile exits from Old Trafford.

Here are the three players Ole Gunnar Solskjaer should look to sell in the upcoming transfer window.

Jesse Lingard

Once a forgotten man at Old Trafford, Jesse Lingard got a new lease of life at West Ham this season.

The 28-year old midfielder joined the Hammers in January on a loan deal.

He got regular minutes under David Moyes and repaid his faith by helping the team to qualify for Europa League next term.

In 16 appearances for the London club, he scored nine goals and produced four assists – his best return in any Premier League season.

All his performances came as a number 10 or a false nine. Bruno Fernandes fulfils this role at Red Devils.

No matter how good a form Lingard is in, he will not oust Fernandes from the attacking midfield position.

The England international needs more playing time and he won’t get it in Solskjaer’s team.

His magnificent spell at West Ham has increased his market value. The Red Devils should cash in on him and allow him to seek a new challenge.

Anthony Martial

The French international played a crucial role last season, scoring 23 goals to helped United to seal a top-four finish in the league.

However, this season has turned out to be the complete opposite for him.

He sustained injuries at regular intervals which restricted him to make only 22 Premier League appearances.

He was last injured while on international duty in March and has failed to regain his fitness since then.

Edinson Cavani and Mason Greenwood will be sharing centre-forward duties next season.

That leaves him to play in the left-flank position which belongs to Marcus Rashford.

It would be better for United to sell him and raise some funds to buy their prime targets this summer.

Victor Lindelof

Lindelof has been a great servant to the Red Devils. He has formed a decent partnership with Harry Maguire at the back.

However, if Solskjaer wants his team to take the next step, he requires a centre-back who can impose his authority.

The Swedish international is a fine distributor of the ball but he lacks the strength and pace needed in the Premier League.

Maguire is not too quick himself and needs a partner who can quickly close down opponents.

Eric Bailly’s contract with the club was recently renewed, indicating that he is part of the manager’s plans.

Lindelof’s departure is inevitable if a new defender is signed as it doesn’t make sense to have five centre-backs in the squad.
