A section of the Manchester United fans have praised the performance of Mason Greenwood during the club’s opening game of the Europa League group stage against Astana.

The teenager was handed with his maiden start of the season on the right wing after previously featuring off the bench in four of the opening five Premier League matches.

United were the dominant side against Astana with more than 70 percent of the possession but they could not find the breakthrough in the first half where Marcus Rashford was wasteful in front of goal.

The same theme continued following the interval but Greenwood eventually bagged the winning strike after some fine bit of play with both feet which was reminiscent of United favourite Robin van Persie.

Greenwood’s two-footed ability has already been mentioned by Solskjaer and he showed the same against Astana with a quick change of play from his left to right foot before slotting home the winner in the 73rd minute.

This has certainly delighted a large section of the fans and some of them have taken to Twitter to heap praise on Greenwood, who has the potential to become a world-class player for United in the future.

Twitter Reactions:

The England youth international has spent most of his youth career playing in the centre-forward position but the presence of Rashford meant that he had to settle for a role on the right side of the attack.

While the teenager has built his reputation further with the performance, there are certainly question marks regarding the ability of Rashford leading the line after being wasteful with his chances once more.
