Ever since the January transfer window started, one player that remained in constant news was the 19-year-old midfielder Moises Caicedo. Manchester United were heavily linked with the Ecuadorian midfielder who rose in prominence ever since making his international debut in October last year.
His goal in the 4-2 win over Uruguay in the World Cup Qualifier game last year further gave testament to his stature as a solid midfielder and Caicedo was touted by several big clubs.
But now it seems that United are no longer interested in bringing the Independiente del Valle teenage to Old Trafford. A report from Sky Sports on Sunday said that United are ending their interest in the player in the January transfer window and will focus on other players. The report added that Brighton are still interested in Caicedo.
Now, further details to the report were provided by Manchester Evening News on Monday, who reported that United were left frustrated after “complex discussions” with the representatives of the player, and hence decided to end their interest in the ongoing transfer window.
The report added that there was an involvement of various intermediaries in the discussion and sources claimed that the transfer was “too messy” for United to remain interested. The MEN further cited sources who described the negotiations as ‘cluster****’ but also added that Caicedo was willing to work with anyone who could engineer the transfer to United.
With interest in Caicedo ended, it still remains to be seen whether Manchester United will bring in any players in this transfer window. United are sitting at the 2nd position of the Premier League table at the moment, only behind on goal difference from the table-toppers Liverpool.
