Report claims Manchester United will not be chasing Bayern Munich star

According to the Athletic, Manchester United will not be pursuing David Alaba who has been on the books of Bayern Munich since 2011.

It has been reported that the Red Devils previously were interested to land the experienced centre-back, who can also play as a left-back, but now they have pulled out of the race for him as he is deemed too costly for the Manchester side.

The 28-year-old has reportedly turned down a £200,000-a-week offer from the Bavarians who are keen to keep him at the Allianz Arena.

European giants Real Madrid are said to be leading the race for the signature of the Austrian footballer, with the La Liga side willing to meet the defender’s huge demands.

Alaba’s time in Munich has seen him garner incredible successes, with the hugely talented centre-back claiming nine German titles and two Champions League winners medals. He was also part of the Bayern team that defeated PSG 1-0 to lift the European Cup last season.

The 28-year-old has clocked up 404 matches in all competitions for the Bundesliga giants, with 32 goals and 49 assists to his name.

However, he now wants to leave the German club and look for a new challenge.
